Guest guest
hello All,I have attached the picture of in Our Plagio babies under -front view. Please have a look and let me know if from your experience her facial asymmetry is mild or severe. Thank you very much Karolina From: Karolina Ciesielski <karolinaciesielski@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Sun, January 24, 2010 12:01:24 AMSubject: Re: Re: New to the group-need help [1 Attachment] Thank you very much ,Yes, you are right, I actually noticed the asymmetry while I was looking at (my daughter) in the mirror. Also, what you said about preference of one side, she definitely likes the right side and twists her body and head to the side often. I know that the problem is correctable but I am so concerned-she is so little and the thought of something being wrong with her is very scary. I am attaching a photo to elicit comments from youThank you very much for your help Karolina From: christineashok <christineashok>PlagiocephalySent: Sat, January 23, 2010 9:54:37 PMSubject: Re: New to the group-need help Hi Karolina, Facial asymmetry is very common when the head is asymmetric (plagiocephaly) . It is most likely more obvious if you look at her face in the mirror. Banding should help correct the plagio and some of the asymmetry. Also if she has torticollis that can contribute to the asymmetry (both plagio and facial). Tort is a condition where the neck muscles are tighter on one side so the baby has a strong preference to look in one direction and may not have full range of motion with the head. You can often notice the head tipped to one side in photos. The treatment for tort is physical therapy, which is mostly doing stretches at home 5 times a day (the PT will show you how). Many peds are not that familiar with plagio and tort, so you may have to push a bit for a referral to a specialist. Many peds will tell you "it will round out on its own", but if you're seeing the asymmetry you really need to evaluate it seriously now while she's so young. It is much easier to correct in young babies since they grow quickly. Let us know what happens at your ped's. -christine sydney, 4 yrs, starband grad > > hello there, > > Hopefully you can help me.
