Guest guest
Hey everyone, I'm just sitting here tonight listening to Christmas music. I feel the need to write for a while. I signed up for AFLAC this past week, i think it is suppose to go into effect in about 10 days. I hope it kicks in in time to cover my leave, and that I do not get stuck in a pre-exisiting clause. But, to be honest, I can drop the coverage anytime and i'll be out only $150 or so dollars by the time i have my surgery, I think it pays me $2000 a month based on my current salery (starting on the 7th day of disability). Adding that to my current Short term disability (50% for up to 9 weeks) and being allowed to supplement that with vacation, I might actually come out on top with more money than I would have had without the surgery. Now, the sad part is, I don't think my insurance company will pay for DS under any circumstances (Anthem BC/BS of ohio is a B$76#). So I am faced with the choice of paying ~28k for the DS or getting the RNY which will be payed for. I don't have $28k, and I don't have good enough credit to take a loan out to get the DS. I have about 6k in my 401k (i'm only 23 yrs old, that's my savings so far). I make a good deal a year (55k before taxes, which comes out as about $28k after taxes, benifits, and 401k contribution), but i seam to burn through it quick. (rent is $600, car $300, insurance $200, utitlities $300, etc each month). I'm no good with money, actually... i'm down right horrible. If i have it, it goes right through my pocket, cept for that which i was putting in my 401k i've never saved any meaningful money. I do have about 17k that a company owes me for doing work for them, however they are avoiding paying me and have not really told me why. Unoffically, i heard that it's because i worked for them 5 years ago and was let go because I was not very productive, and also because my father now works there (he's been there 5 months) and he hired me. I'm so confused, because everyone that was high up knew I was his son, he introduced me as such, and I always discuessed what was going on and everything... anyways.. they've changed out management and all sorts of strange things, and i'm cought and they are threating my father and he's all scared... anyways, not to turn this into finance-problems group, i just don't know where to go from here... i'd had plans for the $17k above, namely christmas and paying off my car, and trying to start a business... I would gladly re-allocate that to DS if i get it, but i'm starting to doubt I'll get it without legal action... and i don't think i'll be doing that because they'd probably fire my dad. i ate alot today. Two spicy chicken sandwiches with cheese, one double stack burger also with cheese, two orders of fries, two Biggies drinks (coke), and a piece of Pizza. all from wendy's.... i called cigna about purchasing independant health plans, they said their open enrollment time is in feb. and that they would not know anything until then. I've heard they pay for DS, but i don't know if A. If it's covered on their independant insurance and B. If i'll be cought in pre-existing land. ok, that's it for now... i'm gonnna go watch a movie, have a beer (killans), and fall asleep on the couch.. oh, i have my neurologist visit this thursday, going to find out how bad my sleep apnea and/or narcolism is... and then i'll offically have a co-morbidity. :/ -jonC _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp. Guest guest
Jon, I worked for a company that contracted with the government. They owed employees back wages, that they denied! The employees got the department of Labor involved, and so far, after about a year, most of the money has been paid back to the employees. The Dept. of Labor might be a first step for you. Hopefully it won't affect your father's position in the company. Pam
