Guest guest
Kim (?): If you've not decided yet, then this is a great place to find information. I lurked here for quite awhile before making my wls decision, just reading what everyone else had to say, and posting questions every now and then. I chose the DS over RNY because I enjoy food. I like myself and wouldn't want to punish myself long term by restricting what I could eat - that would make me miserable. I have also suffered through bulimia and know that I absolutely don't want to " dump " as a way to control myself. In addition, I realized that my relationship with my husband and family has alot to do with food. We enjoy cooking and eating together and it's not something that I really want to change. Food is a good thing, a sensual thing, something we HAVE to do in order to live. I didn't want to give it up. The DS allows me to eat what I want, just in smaller portions. At almost 3 weeks post op I don't feel deprived of anything, and have been able to have the same meals as the rest of my family - just in smaller portions!
