Guest guest
, My daughter only wore the DBB for 4 days and we still have her shoes and brace......the insurance company wanted us to return them and they doctor's office wouldn't accept them (not that we expected them to!). I will call our insurance company today and find out what the final verdict is on the DBB...if they say we can keep it then I can send the entire brace to you. I will let you know as soon as I know. Mallory is only 16 days younger than Rory so it should work fine. and Mallory
Guest guest
Hi , we are about there with 's, too. We tighten them constantly. I read somewhere that you can put that teflon tape that is used in plumbing on the screws. Has anyone here used that? I have tried to put them on without taking them off the bar but it is a lot harder. I suppose I could get used to it, though, because others here do it with shoes that are more fixed on the bar. and > > Help! > My son Rory has been wearing the Markell shoes and the Denis Brown > Bar 23/7 for nearly 3 months now. We were never told >this in the start, have you heard this? it does cause this yes... but Markell is wrong to say not to take them off the bar and you were wise to do it. It is a small price to pay to be able to get the feet into the shoes properly so as not to cause sores/blisters. Ours stripped too, about that time I was able to stop taking them off the bar but she was much older by then and I was much better at putting them on. Try putting some aluminum foil in there, it should take up enough space to keep it at the right abduction. And now you need some kind person from this list to send you an old bar and/or sole plate. Which is stripped? The bar or the plate? or both? What size bar do you need? I may have a sole plate to contribute, gotta check. >2. Insurance won't cover a replacement because it's too soon. >Anyone else had a fight with insurance over faulty products? unfortunately it's not really faulty... well... it is and it isn't. It's made of aluminum which is a very soft metal. If you never take them off the bar it should last. But regardless of what Markell says, it is important to know that this process saves you and your child much heartache and absolutely should be done if needed. Their shoes are problematic for many people, simply because of the design. Even the most well corrected feet have issues and part of this is because it's so darn tricky to get them on while they're fixed to the bar for a new parent. >3. Markell is saying it's out of warranty so they won't replace it >for free. Anyone else encounter this? good Lord... exactly what kind of warranty do these have anyway? 3mo's? WHO has a 3 month warranty? Oh yeah, right... Markell Shoe... Apparently they don't have enough faith in their product to offer a warranty that is appropriate. They know these kids need shoes every 3-6mo's so I guess that's about how long they say they should last huh? How far from the toes is he anyway? Time for new shoes maybe???? Sorry you're having this problem. I am the one who insists people take the shoes off the bar, I take responsibility for that. I stand by it though. Babies are way more important to me and I fully believe we need to do what works best to protect them. I think if you cannot get new parts, or new shoes that we can get you what you need here. The list members are wonderful and someone will surely have something that will work for you. I'll go check for that sole plate now and let you know. I've also got a crummy adjustable bar that's really two bars hooked together with hose clamps but I think it'd be a) too big and too icky for you due to the hose clamp thing. It really is dangerous without a pad! Anyone else got any parts? Kori
Guest guest
, First of all, with the fixed-length gold bar, taking the shoes off the bar makes it infinitely easier to get the FAB on a squirmy baby. However, it also creates alot of wear on the lightweight aluminium they make the parts out of. Don't beat yourself up over it, there are a couple of easy fixes. If it's the teeth on the soleplate and the bar that are stripped (so that the bar no longer grips the soleplate) you can fix this by filling in the little gaps. Take the shoes off the bar. Take a couple of squares of aluminium foil (the heavy duty-er, the better) and push those all the way down the bolt (you'll be punching a hole through the center of each one) so that they are stacked up on top of the round part of the soleplate where the bar goes. Then put the shoe back on the bar. The layer of foil will keep the shoe from slipping about in the hole. This worked well for us. If my explanation isn't very clear, please feel free to ask for clarification! It's also more than likely that one of us here has a spare bar in the size you need. I have a couple of used bars I'd willingly part with. Finally, at the end of 3 months, you are probably getting so good at putting the shoes on, you don't need to take them off the bar every time. It should just get easier from here, but if you have more troubles, please let us know. We're always happy to help. In fact, we've had the same bar and the same sole plates on the shoes for nearly the entire time he's been in the shoes (over a year now). > > 2. Insurance won't cover a replacement because it's too soon. > Anyone else had a fight with insurance over faulty products? Ask your doctor to see if they have any suggestions. Maybe they can write a new script for it so insurance will cover it? Keep calling the insurance company until you get a representative with a brain and some compassion who can help you figure out how to get what you need while fullfilling the requirements of your plan. (Once you find that person, get their name and direct dial number so you can call them the next time you have a problem or question.) > > 3. Pitch a huge fit if they don't. And, then check with insurance to see if there is another place you can get the shoes from that would be covered. Maybe they can help you work things out. > > I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has had similar problems. > > Thank you, > > & Rory rcf (b. 11/2/05) >
Guest guest
I haven't had this problem, but I do have a 6 " bar that we are not using. It needs to be bent, but otherwise it is practically new. I don't know if this would be to short for your little one. Just a thought. 11/19/04 BCF basenjimommy wrote: Help! Guest guest
We use the DBB and take his shoes off the bar at least twice a day, since November. Never any stripping. If you call Markell, as to speak to . He was very nice and helpful to us early on. Good Luck. and Logan Re: Faulty DBB questions I haven't had this problem, but I do have a 6 " bar that we are not using. It needs to be bent, but otherwise it is practically new. Guest guest
Hi ! This is a little late, but I wanted to let you know that I have a gold bar you can have (it has holes for 8, 9 & 10 if that makes sense). It's not bent for dorsiflexion, so you'd have to have that done. I also have shoes with the plates attached, so I can send you what you need. We only used it 3 times because Lucas wasn't fully corrected and then we ended up in the s.
