Guest guest
I use the neti pot regularly. Rose you are right it works wonderful, especially with a cold. I don't feel so congested after using it. Even in the spring with all that pollen floating about through the air. It is definitely worth a try a couple of times. I've been fortunate to have only 3 or 4 sinus infections in my entire life. I know how miserable I was; can't imagine the chronic sinusitis some of you have to deal with. Have you tried the Neti Pot or another type of sinus rinse? I resisted for a long time, despite all the testimonials (sounds like an infomercial!) from folks on this list. But I finally got one & it works wonders! Even with just a cold, it clears those babies out & I can breathe better. Yes, the sarc can attack your sinuses. I forget--are you on anything besides the Pred? Maybe another drug would have a better affect on the sinuses. Hopefully, some other members will chime in here about their experiences. Do you know what your WBC is; also what is the differential (they analyze the different types of white blood cells--neutrophils, etc.). Which ones are elevated can help indicate what type of infection you have. Many people with sarc maintain a low-grade fever, so a slight elevation in WBC would make sense. I don't know that sarc alone would cause a significant elevation in WBC. These would be good questions to write down & ask your docs. If they say they don't know, ask how you could find out. The best docs aren't afraid to admit they don't know something, but they DO know how to find out & are willing to do that. When I had my first arrhythmia back in 1994, the drugs they sent me home on weren't working very well & one of them had an unaccceptable side affect. So I talked to an internist at the hospital & he sat me down with a PDR (drug reference). He looked up one drug, read through the info & said, No, that's not good for your asthma. Then he went on to the next drug. He kept this up until he found the drug he thought would be best. Sure enough, that kept the arrhythmia under control, with no side affects. That's the kind of doctor I respect & trust. When you say the doctor prescribed a high dose of antibiotics in your body, does that mean that he/she doesn't know what kind & where the infection is, so he's just using the shotgun approach, hoping something hits the target? I'd question the plan here. Another question I have is, have you been having a lot of sinus infections? Often when someone has frequent or recurring sinus infections, there is a fungal infection. If you don't treat that, the symptoms will just return. Ramblin' RoseCo-owner/Moderator A merry heart is good medicine. I hope this email finds everyone well as to be expected. Sorry I have been MIA for a while. Have not been feeling well and my eyes were bothering me. Tried to catch up on some the the emails. You all have been busy, LOL. I just came from the doctors today because my WBC is very elevated. Part of it is from the steroids but the primary is not sure why it is so high (higher than what is should be for being on steroids). He did discover that my sinus are inflammed and wants to order a CT Scan of my sinus. Is this another issue with the neuro sarc? I did read that neuro sarc can affect the sinus as well. Would the neuro sarc also cause my WBC to be elevated? The primary also perscribed a high dose of anibiotics to fight the infection in my body. Has anyone experienced these problems?
