Hi Mike, You can email Dr. Ponseti and send him pictures of your son's feet

and he will consult with you via emal and phone for free. He is a wonderful

man and is the unparalleled expert in the non surgical treatment of club

feet so if anyone has a good bit of advice for you, it would be him. He is

very approachable and accessable to parents and other docs who want to learn

about the method. We emailed him about our baby's bilateral club feet

before deciding to go and see him with her and he answered quickly. Someone

else can give you his email addy, as I am on a different computer and don't

have it currently. Take care,

Carol

Mike,

The Ponseti method should have corrected all of the problems you are

describing with your son's feet (both of them). The fact that you say

he didn't take well to the brace leads me to believe that the left

foot was not fully corrected originally. I would strongly suggest

that you consult with a well qualified Ponseti method practioner who

has experience with older children. There is still a possibility that

the residual problems that you are describing could be corrected with

casting and without major surgery. If you let us know what area you

are in we can recommend the closest most experienced doctor who would

be good for your son to see.

Mike,

I second Carol's advise here, Dr. Ponseti has so much experience, he

is able to tell most times from a series of pictures, what the best

course of action is and will be able to recommend the best Ponseti

trained doctor accordingly. It really is an amazing resourse and I

would take advantage :)

Here is an e-mail he sent a parent recently regarding the pics that

he likes to see...

" The views I would like to see are her standing from the front and

from the

back in her bare feet on a hard surface (not carpet). I would like

to see from her knees down. Also have her lie on her back and keep

her knee straight while you place the palm of your hand against her

foot and gently push the foot up into dorsiflexion. Take a side

view of her each foot in this position. Does she have bilateral

clubfeet or is only one foot involved? "

I.V. Ponseti, M.D.

A link to Dr. Ponseti's web site can be found under the links section

to your left, his e-mail address is there.
