Guest guest
Sheryl Call the doctor and tell him Dakoda is having a bad reaction to the medication. If he is a good doctor, he will tell you to stop the meds immediately and see how his behaviour is after that. If it is the drug, his behaviour will bounce back immediately. Then, you'll need to find another medication or a different dose. Sometimes a smaller dose of the same medicine, until the body adjusts is what is needed. My son did a double blind study on Ritalin several years ago and I will never forget it. When he was on the full dose of Ritalin, he became paranoid (thought every one was staring at him and would break out into hysterical crying for no reason; he would sit in the living room in a trance and refused to eat ANYTHING.) I was flipped, and so thankful that experiment only lasted 7 days. And then he bounced back. There is no benefit to Dakoda if he is feeling so weird that he is acting up. Call the doctor tomorrow. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Debby jennifer-meds effecting eating -suggestions > hi jennifer, Neurologist put Dakoda on aderral for ocd , since i refused > stattera, yesterday. Guest guest
Thank you for help, I did stop drug tonight , I can't see him going through that. I'm going to call Dr. tmrw morning , It's like they keep tryng different meds and all have adverse effect on him. been on tegretol, baclofen, valvoric acid and now this , I'm at my wits end , the thing is the ocd doesnt seem that bad to me , but the teachers are syng his constant lights on and off , doors open and shut so many times is distracting to other students . wait until they discover he is now obsessed with band-aids , tape and stickers. He just started this one. I'll let you know what they say. Sheryl " Debby B. " wrote: Sheryl Call the doctor and tell him Dakoda is having a bad reaction to the medication. Guest guest
Sheryl, Coby is on Zoloft for his ocd behaviors. I'm like you, I don't feel that Coby's are that bad, but they do interfer with his imaginary play and the way he plays with other kids. Anyways, I have liked the Zoloft so far. It has helped with is obsessions and I can draw him away from things that he has fixed on now and I don't notice it affecting his personality in any way. Zoloft has a side effect of causing some weight gain, but not enough. Dr. H wants us to switch to risperadone or get the Zoloft dose adjusted and then restart the periactin. Coby didn't do so well on periactin this last time. He is becoming very hyper and the periactin made it worse, but if he needs it to gain weight then I guess we will have to deal with the behavior for the time being. Be sure to keep us updated. Guest guest
Hi Sheryl, was diagnosed as either PDD or PDD like symptoms which is very similar to OCD. Our doctor prescribed risperadal which happens to also work as an appetite STIMULANT. I also have cousins on risperadal for straight OCD. You may want to look into this.
