Guest guest
I hope this works. The flat spot show up mainly only in 1 pic an I have to get just the rt angle. Do you think this is mild and will self correct, or is it more serious and I need to see a specialist? Thanks! 4 of 4 Photo(s) 2.jpeg 1.jpeg
Guest guest
I looked at your photos, and I would say his head is moderate and you should consider banding. If you're not ready to do it now, I would say take photos every 2 weeks, and by 6 months make a decision. If you're not seeing improvement go ahead with a band. Also this will help convince your md. It also would be a good idea to get an opinion from a cranial specialist (such as cranial facial plastic surgeon) or get some measurements from a band provider who will often do a free assessment and you'll have more data. Since you're having trouble repositioning your baby, it probably makes sense to do an evaluation for torticollis. With tort the muscles in the neck are tighter on one side, so babies have a strong preference for one side and may have limited range of motion (can't turn their head as far in one direction, may tilt to one side which is often visible in photos). If tort is present you will need to do exercise as prescribed by a physical therapist to help stretch the muscles. Tort is a big contributor to plagio. In addition to how he sleeps, keep your baby off his head as much as possible. Push tummy time even if he doesn't like it, use a baby carrier and maybe a bumbo chair to help keep him off his head. Only use the car seat in the car and no bouncer or swing. All these things will help keep pressure off his head which will help it round out. There should be more repositioning tips in the files section of this group. -christine sydney, 5 yrs, starband grad > > I hope this works. Guest guest
I think if you keep working on position and keep the baby off its flat spot, it may round out. If you plan on banding, do it before 9 months. Baby is beautiful! > > I hope this works. The flat spot show up mainly only in 1 pic an I have to get just the rt angle.
