Hey all

This week I returned to work, as a teacher, after a hectic summer. I went down

to the Pharmacy to pick up a new patch of Adam's GH, only to discover my

insurance is NOT COVERING IT.

My insurance company has yet to contact me either in writing or by phone to tell

me this. My pharmacist called them to find out why they denied my coverage and

he was told to TELL ME that I have to reapply again! We have been getting it for

almost 5 years now.

So I have emailed and faxed forms to the endo (who was on vacation; and is back

now but he's not sure how long it will take him to get to the forms); I have

emailed and phoned and voice mailed people at my insurance company to say this

isn't fair, why wouldn't you give me ADVANCE notice and I would have gotten all

this paper work done over the summer when I was sitting at HOME every day!

Finally I have called, left voice mail and emailed Eli Lilly to see how soon

(and if) they will put us back on their compassionate program (just in case my

coverage is firmly denied this time or it takes several months to get the

coverage back).

But Adam had his last needle last night and it wasn't even a full

dose..............and as of right this minute I have no idea if or when he will

get the GH again!!!!

What a frustration!!

Debby - that's the problem with insurance companies. When their

contracts expire or they change - the timing of getting the notice

of change in insurance doesn't always get to the employer in a

timely fashion. I'm not even sure where lines of communication fall

with respect to letting individual insurers know of their changes.

Sorry to hear of your news....it's great to know that Eli has a

compasionate program though.

What do you teach? You are looking at an admirer of teachers :).
