Guest guest
Hi - there is a s tip document that I uploaded awhile back. It was shared with me by a mmo from England and I found some of the tips useful! But there are seriously soooo many parents on this list who have tons of expert experience with them, so I am sure you can ask any questions. Good luck! wrote: Hi all. It looks like Lily will be moving to the s in about two weeks. We have used the Markells for 9 months or so with lots of problems (before visiting Dr. Ponseti and returning to POnseti casts-- thanks to you. smile.). I know there is a Markell " instruction manual " --is there any such thing for the s? Any " tips " we should know to avoid sores? I would rather prevent them than heal them later! You can reply at your convenience as we have another couple of weeks (although we are moving a few hours away in 10 days so I thought I better post while I remembered.) Guest guest
, My main tip for the s is to stiffen the ends of each strap before you begin using them. I dip close to an inch of each strap in to a varnish of some sort and let it harden/dry before using the shoes. The strap will go through the buckle way easier this way, which comes in handy when you are struggling to buckle a shoe on a squirmy kid. Also, I like to mark the hole I'm aiming for (with ink) on the inside/underneat side of the strap. The straps will stretch after a while though, so you may find yourself using a tighter hole after a while. Most of the time, when you first get the shoes they will seem way too big with lots of toe room, and the heel (HEAL? hahah) not seated all the way back in the shoe. With a little time and wear the heel will sit as it should in the very back of the shoe so don't worry too much on that. You'll find your own style of doing things but I find it best to buckle the center strap first, then the toe, and the ankle strap last. As with the Markells, you want to bend the knee to poke the heel out back as you fit the foot in to the shoe to get a tight deep fit. A couple things to look out for: that the leather doesn't bunch up (I always trim the tongue leather down smaller with scissors) and that the rubber lining doesn't bend over against the foot by accident when you pt the shoe on. good luck! shawnee s in our future Hi all.
