Guest guest
Hello, My dd is 4 months old and has torticollis and multiple resulting head shape issues. Plagiocephaly, and her head is also elongated and has a weird bludge on one side. She is in PT and is seeing a cranial sacral DO, but we are now also looking into a helmet. There are no centers close to us so we are trying to explore our options. There are two star band location 3 hours away, a licenced provider of DOC Bands 5 hours away, and a doc band clinic 6 hours away. The DOC band centers are farther away, but we do have family and friends in those areas that we could stay with. My questions for you who have already gone down this path are, 1) Have any of you been to the Doc band licensed providers in Wisconsin or the DOC band clinics in Chicago or the Star band clinics in Omaha Nebraska or Mayo Clinic in MN? If so, could you please share your experiences and the cost? Thank you so much for your help! This is a really overwhelming process.
Guest guest
I would start with your insurance and see what is covered. It took 5 phone calls to get to the right person. You have to be persistent. we just took our dd 5months to Cranial technologies for her free eval and found out later that cT is out of net work. I did find an in network provider, but it is not for a DOC BAND. I wish I were more ignorant in the success of the DOC band b/c they seem to be at the top of their game. It is at leat 6,000 for a band. I would have had to pay 2500. we are going with Hanger Orthotics instead. They are Nationwide...have you looked the up? my little one also has torticollis (enduced by reflux) > > Hello, > > My dd is 4 months old and has torticollis and multiple resulting head shape issues. Guest guest
I called doc band this week to find out prices 3800 and 2100 for the contracted insurance price, so 3800 for people with no insurance or an insurance that doesn't cover. Our insurance has to go through an approval process if we are denied we have to pay the 2100 contracted price the insurance would have payed.Connected by DROID on Verizon Wireless Re: Mequon, WI or Madison, WI, or Chicago, or Omaha or Mayo Clinic? Guest guest
We had a starband and a very experience ortho. I would do it the same way again rather than trying to travel for a docband. However it depends on the experience of the provider. I don't think there will be a huge difference between the 2 docband providers. Both bands will be manufactured in the same place. Only the adjustments will differ since they are made locally. -christine sydney, 5 yrs, starband grad > > Hello, > > My dd is 4 months old and has torticollis and multiple resulting head shape issues. Guest guest
Thank you so much for your responses and sharing your experiences! I have to say that the whole pricing thing is very confusing. How can they charge people without insurance $3800 and people with insurance $2200?! That is insane and really unethical. I think I will do a lot of phone calling tomorrow to ask different clinics about pricing and make appointments for consultations and then go from there. We have a long drive coming up too so I think I'll see how dd tolerates that so I know if it is even possible for us to drive to WI or IL. Thank you so much and if anyone has more info please let me know!
Guest guest
Hi , Yesterday when we talked about the price this is what I meant.....The total for my daughter's band was $3000. It was $3000. if I paid for it or my insurance. If my insurance did not cover it and I paid for the whole thing up front they would give me a discount, so it would have cost me about $2,400.
