Guest guest Posted October 4, 2005 Report Share Posted October 4, 2005 Dawna, Yes, a GI is a gastroenterologist. Most endocrinologists would not deal with this kind of stuff. Dr. Harbison is the exception. She looks at the child as a whole, and has much more knowledge about GI issues, because all of our RSS children seem to have them. You could try Zantac prescribed by the pediatrician first. Beware though - it tastes awful! This drug is used to reduce stomach acid (the burning sensation), and Reglan, another commonly prescribed drug for reflux, is used to increase the motility in the stomach (i.e. make it empty faster).
