Guest guest
Ahhhh, sleeeeeeeeeeeep. Uh, what's that? Just joking. Here are my suggestions - swaddle him up tight so his legs cannot move and he's not tempted to try moving them. You might consider sitting up in a reclining chair or sofa with him at night for a couple nights, holding him he might sleep which would allow you some shut eye as well. With him in the crib maybe prop a rolled blanket under his knees or feet. If he sleeps with you perhaps try the same sort of thing with his legs up on yours - or him laying on his tummy over your chest or tummy. All these I mean for a short term fix as he learns to adjust to sleeping in the brace. My 2 mo. old is like yours, breast fed and won't take a binky at all. I use all of the above for a night of sleep but it's not brace related anymore, just new born baby related now days. Good luck! (and hey, no shame in a dose of benadryl once in a while when you're desperate). ee Mother of 3 Clubfooted Sons: - Bilateral Club Feet April 1998 Everett - Bilateral Club Feet September 2003 Garrison - Bilateral Club Feet March 2006 Sleeping & DDB Our son just got his DBB yesterday to wear 23/7 for the next three months and he did not sleep more than 20 mins. at a time throughout the night. He napped well during the day and he gave out some smiles and laughs in the afternoon. We removed the DBB in the evening for 30 mins as his doctor instructed. The feet were red, but showed no signs of blisters or pressure sores. We took the boots off again today in the late afternoon for 60 mis and the feet still look great. He was happy and sleepy all day. Just wondering if anyone has any tips on getting their little ones to sleep well wearing the DBB. He is an exclusively breastfed baby who will not take a pacifier, much unlike our first son who would take the suther and an odd bottle. Any advice is welcome... my husband and I would love to sleep again soon...
