Guest guest
Alyssa - my advise is do NOT cancel sugery. Know why? Something will always come up and it will keep getting cancelled. I know how much you want this and how hard you have been working at it. Your husband probably doesn't realize all that you have had to go through to have surgery and how much you really want it. Even if you have to take a taxi at 5:30 am alone to the hospital from the hotel (which is not really a long ride, is it?), you will not be the first or only one going into surgery alone without family with you. I will be alone because I live 3 hrs from the hospital and my family is not inclined to go that far to be with me, but I am not going to let that stop me! I've pretty much learned not to count on them for any emotional support for anything. There are others who live alone, far from family, and also have had this alone. Another suggestion - have your sister come early to help you - take them to her fiancees house?? Find a day care in Delano (I am SURE they have one) and put the boys in for one day so your husband can be at the hospital during the day after you wake up, etc. Or have your Mom come early. I would say do whatever it takes, or the chance may possibly not come around again. Remember, you have insurance approval now.....and you never know if you'd get again. There are just too many variables going into this that when you get to this point, if you cancel, it could all break down. Like, what if your husband's father gets worse? Think of that scenario. I think my family thinks this is *elective* surgery and since I am choosing to have it (so I can lose weight) instead of going on another diet, then it isn't like some other *major* surgery. Maybe your husband feels the same and thinks this can easily be put off and arranged later. (Maybe he doesn't feel that way, but I know my family does). It all comes down to figuiring out a way. And I know you can do that! Good Luck! Carole
