Guest guest
Cathy, I don't know if this is GFCF or even applicable, but.... whenever my kids had tooth pain etc I used alum (white powdery stuff) in the spice section of store. It has a numbing effect I guess. It was a long time ago, but I think this was the stuff. Can't hurt to ask the dr. Good luck. The poor thing. Guest guest
Hi Cathy, Are you familiar with homeopathy? I use it all the time with the kids, especially with any injuries or painful conditions. I've also used it for myself after surgery. The remedy called " Arnica " , will ease pain AND create healing faster, if there is some sort of injury or trauma to the body. I have felt it work on myself & the kids always. You can get Arnica at the HFS. It comes in pellet form in a little vile. Start with 6x strength; if he won't allow the pellet in his mouth you can disolve it in a little bit of water & have him drink it. Have him take it 15 minutes before eating or drinking anything (if he is eating with that pain) & wait 15 minutes after for any strong tastes to go into his mouth. Also, restrict any kind of mints, or strong mint scented things, & chocolate (can inhibit homeopathy it from working). I hope this makes sense. If you have any questions about it, please e-mail. I feel so bad for you both; I can only imagine my son would be the same if he had such pain. I know Arnica can work wonders; I hope you can try it. Let us know how he's doing... Blessings, Michele (, ASD, 7yrs, Logan, 3.5yrs)
Guest guest
Cathy, just a thought but have you checked his hands and feet for blisters/redness/itching?? Did he have a fever or loose stools?? If so, it may be " hand, foot and mouth disease " , which is common this time of year and also in the spring, and is a viral infection of the Cocksakie virus, also known as chickenpox. also, I would'nt put anything on his tongue DIRECTLY for numbing because he could bite it and badly while it's numb. Try cold foods like crushed ice, popsicles, ice cream to help cool and relieve pain, and if there is swelling, the cold stuff will help also. Have you given him an OTC medication for pain like grape Tylenol or clear Motrin?? My son has frequent bouts of " Geographic tongue " , which is unclear of cause and leaves the tongue looking patchy white like a road map. He says it is " itchy " , and I find that it just needs to run it's course. You and your family have a lot to deal with in addition to everything else. Hope all of your replys can offer some help for all of you. As far as the Zyrtec, I can look it up in the PRD at work today and let you know if that is a side effect. Is he taking it daily for allergy reasons?? I'll check the posts later tomorrow to see if you get a reply sooner. Hang on, Cheri
