Dianne,

I think your post was thoughtful and reasonable. I try to give

everyone the benefit of the doubt when they post and aim them in the

direction of credible information.

I do have to say that I have a lack of tolerance for trolls or folks

who seek information by stating what they know to be fact when indeed

they are still in a research mode. Instead of battling with these

folks, I tend to delete em, as I have to many emails to read to begin

with.

On the other hand, what may be perceived as intolerant is actually

dilligence on the part of many who will not risk even one undecided

person perhaps making a lasting damaging decision because a new

person espouses " facts " that arent' and rationale, that isn't.

With that said, I have always preferred honey to sledge

hammers...well unless its my kids!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Theresa

posts and personal email--thanks to you all. I'm a critical care

nurse, and I still have hundreds of questions, concerns, and fears.

How many more someone with no medical background must have boggles my

mind. Without those of you who have gone before--thru surgery,

insurance hassles, and pre and post operative complications where

would those of us coming after be? Lost. That said............

> If someone is researching WLS s/he needs to be able to receive

civil answers about WHY the DS procedure is so much superior to the

RNY *in terms of quality of life issues* as well as weightloss/lack

of regain issues. How is anyone supposed to ask which procedure is

better if s/he doesn't use the *name* of the procedure they are

asking about? As soon as RNY comes off someone's keyboard, y'all

jump in their poop.

> May I offer this suggestion--point them to the DS website where

anatomy, comparisons, personal experience, surgeons, insurance, long

term reports, and links aid them in their quest for the best

procedure for them; then invite them back with their questions *about

DS* after they have done their homework. If they have questions

about RNY, they can go to the RNY groups.

> Stupid doesn't enter into it here, either; misinformed,

brainwashed, ignorant maybe; but stupid, no. Personally, I get more

good info in a devil's advocate situation--but some folks are

offended and feel personally attacked.

Dianne-

In Valhalla, you would be right. However, the original posts did not ask

questions. There was one that did include a question and it was answered.

The rest were merely misstatements of fact which I suspect the authors well

knew were untruthful and designed to mislead.

I don't think that you can find many, if any, instances on this list of

people being bashed for asking about the differences between the surgeries,

unless those questions were loaded with misinformation as were the ones in

question.
