Guest guest
Well, I mentioned all this to my husband today expecting him to say that he didn't see the regression. He didn't see the plagio at first or the tort, so I thought he'd calm me down. Nope. He interrupted me mid-sentence and said that yes, our son's eye looks just like it did before we started treatment and he doesn't understand how it got so bad so quickly after taking off the band. So, I ordered the TOT collar, and I'm holding out hope that it will help treat the tort, which will in turn help with the facial asymmetry. Keeping my fingers crossed... > > So, I've been secretly harboring a fear that my son is regressing after just a couple weeks out of his helmet. When I look at him, I see his flat spot is back on one side and his eye asymmetry is back. He finally had an eyelid on his right side, and it's already disappeared again. On top of it, his tort isn't getting better despite doing stretches for 5 months now and going back to PT. (We stopped going at one point because my son fought the PT so much and he suggested just doing the home stretches.) Anyway, I was hoping I was just being paranoid, but today the PT took a good look at him and said, " I really hope your son doesn't end up needing another helmet. " I hadn't said a word to the PT about his head shape or my concerns. He also stretched him a lot more agressively than he has before, holding my son down when he fought. (In case you're wondering, I was fine with this. Tough love. He'll appreciate not having a crooked neck when he's 16.)So, I think the PT must see the regression, too. Ahhh!!! Right now, I am trying to stay positive and be thankful that my son doesn't have a horrible disease, but it's really hard! >
Guest guest
Hi , sorry to hear about the regression. At least now you know you're not imagining things, but that isn't much consolation. When do you get the tot collar? I have seem pictures, but don't know that much about them. Are you in the tort group too? Does your PT recommend the collar? -christine sydney, 4.5 yrs, starband grad > > > > So, I've been secretly harboring a fear that my son is regressing after just a couple weeks out of his helmet. Guest guest
Thanks for the reply. Sorry to be so slow in replying. Yes, the PT recommends the collar highly. He said he's seen a broad range for how long the treatment takes, but he hasn't had any cases where it didn't work. After thinking about the situation for a while, I think I'm going to take him to the eye doctor just to get checked out and find a orthopedist to take a look at him. I'd like to have his spine looked at just to be certain he doesn't have any abnormalities causing or adding to his tort. I think I'm also going to have his head measured again just to find out where he stands. I'm hoping his measurements are not too bad overall and the facial changes or primarily tort. I am not on the tort group. I'll have to check it out. > > > > > > So, I've been secretly harboring a fear that my son is regressing after just a couple weeks out of his helmet. Guest guest
Just an update... We went back to Cranial Tech and found out that Caleb's eye and ear asymmetry have gotten worse since he was exited, but his overall head shape has changed very little. So, it looks like the unresolved tort IS the problem as I suspected. It's caused his facial asymmetry to return. We started the TOT collar a few days ago, and he's doing really well with it. He fussed a lot the first day, pulled on it a bit the second day, and now he seems to accept it. His tort looks a little better too, so hopefully the facial asymmetry will follow suit. We wanted to have his neck looked at and called orthopaedics at our local hospital to make an appointment, but the secretary said the neurosurgeons look at tort, not orthopedists. Has anyone else heard that? > > > > > > > > So, I've been secretly harboring a fear that my son is regressing after just a couple weeks out of his helmet.
