Guest guest
Hi Corina, My Dutch is not very good but thanks for the input. I was very disappointed also to find that the standard here is still surgery. I'm so glad I found out about my son's clubfoot and the Ponseti method beforehand or else I would have just gone with the standard treatment here I'm sure. My son was born by c-section and they actually wanted to start casting immediately at the hospital where he was born. The dr that is doing our treatment said that the foot abduction brace is used after the casting. I've read some on this board about different shoes but I will have to revisit that now that we've begun the casting. Is the brace the same but the shoes differ or are there actually different braces used in the Ponseti Method? Thanks! Joyce (Dylan: born April 14, 2006 with right clubfoot) > > Dear Joyce, > > I saw in the posting on the clubfoot email that you are in the Netherlands. I am Ducth myself and live in the US for 3 years now. Our son was born in the US with bilateral clubfeet. We are very happy with the results of the Ponseti treatment and I was amazed to see on the Ducth clubfeet website that the standard treatment is still surgery. I am glad you were abel to find a Ponseti doctor. From what I saw on the Dutch site, the brace is not similar to the Markell shoes or PM's at all. > Our son is in the Markell shoes and they work fine for him. We did try the P/M shoes since everybody on the list is so positive about them and we felt we wanted 'the best for our son'. But for him they just did not work as well as the Markells. > If you like you can get in touch with me and if you speak Dutch of course we can continue our conversation in Dutch. If you cannot find the right brace in the Netherlands, I can maybe help you and get it here and send it to you. > > Groet, > Corina
