Guest guest
Glad to hear all went well. Hospital are the worst. I think I hate the IVs more than just about anything... I'm always so impatient to have them taken out so I can hold him unencumbered. JGOODIN wrote: , Glad to hear Gracie is doing well and at home. I know how trying those hospital stays can be. I soo agree we had major issues with kinks in the lines on day 2 and 3, the monitor kept goin off like every 20 min or so. Must have woken her up like 50 times. I brought all these clothes and my hairdryer and straightner and makeup hahahahahahahahahaha - at least I have less laundry to do :-) & Grace

Guest guest
, I am glad everything went well. Kelsey has an appointment with her kidney specialist on Tuesday so hopefully all continues to go well for her in that department. I get so nervous before every one because I am so afraid of surgery for her. It does help to know that Grace made it through so well. Jenni wrote: > Glad to hear all went well. Guest guest
Hi Jenni, Good luck with your appt. It is amazing how fast she is bouncing back! The surgery wasn't pleasant by any means but it really went far better than I expected. If Kelsey ever needed to have a surgery, which it sounds like she won't, just know that it really isn't as bad as you would think...just 4 days later and Grace is already runnin around getting into everything again & Grace > > Glad to hear all went well. Guest guest
Hi Joy, It is good to be home even though it's a bit stressfull as her dad and I are going through a break-up...when it rain it poors eh! Anyway, it will all get sorted out and I'm glad that I'm doin it now when she is still so young. Grace had a multicystic kidney with a ureterocele, the ureter's are the tubes that carry the urine from the kidney's down to the bladder. The ureter on her cystic kidney had a pucker or a ballooning in it (pretty sure that's what was causing all her UTI's) and instead of removing the whole ureter as was planned, I went online and found out about a less invasive approach (gotta love google and the yahoo support sites!!) her surgeon ended up doing what's called a ureterocele repair meaning that they just cut it down leaving a small stump instead of removing the whole thing thus having to remove a small peice of her bladder which means bladder augmentation and the chance for some pretty yucky complications. Anyway, thanks for thinking of us Joy How is the little cutie Grant doin btw? & Grace > > > Hi All, > > > > Just a quick note to tell ya all that Grace's surgery (cystic kidney > > removal and ureterocele repair) went well and we are back home. I'm so sorry about the breakup, . That sounds very stressful, but I hope all works out for the best for you. > > Grace had a multicystic kidney with a ureterocele, the ureter's are > the tubes that carry the urine from the kidney's down to the bladder. > The ureter on her cystic kidney had a pucker or a ballooning in it > (pretty sure that's what was causing all her UTI's) and instead of > removing the whole ureter as was planned, I went online and found out > about a less invasive approach (gotta love google and the yahoo > support sites!!) her surgeon ended up doing what's called a > ureterocele repair meaning that they just cut it down leaving a small > stump instead of removing the whole thing thus having to remove a > small peice of her bladder which means bladder augmentation and the > chance for some pretty yucky complications. Well, the reason I was asking is we just had a urethral stricture repair, and the whole business interests me! I " m sorry I didn't finish my question, though. I think it was left kind of open-ended. Thanks so much for filling me in. And that is awesome you found a less invasive approach. I research madly any procedure Grant has to have. It's funny, but I actually had an ureterocele sort of figured out in my mind what it probably was. Tells you how much time I'm learning terms. LOL I've definitely heard of bladder augmentation (sounds like it happens sometimes with sb kids for various reasons), and it sounds like a surgery to avoid if possible. I'm so glad you were able to! Good job, mom. > Anyway, thanks for thinking of us Joy How is the little cutie > Grant doin btw? Grant is doing pretty well. He actually rolled over a couple of times, so we're quite surprised and pleased! We had a catheter in after his surgery (and complication), and I removed that on my own on Monday. Went smoothly! He's gaining weight too fast, he's already 21 pounds! Thanks for asking, . I hope little Grace is healing well and feeling well. I hope those darned UTIs go away now.
