Guest guest
How old is ? We didn't do anything differently but our daughter has been in casts forever so it was just like any other time and she's only just two. We carried or used our stroller or baby carrier. We didn't get a temp placard - but darn sometimes it would be nice to just stick out my belly as I walk from the 'new mother' parking spot! LOL ATTT Questions.... Well it looks like is going to be needing the ATTT. We have an appt with Dr. Morcuende 4/10 to set everthing up. I have a few silly questions that I can't seem to find the answers to anywhere. Wheelchair or stroller? Which is better when you are going to be out and about? If wheelchair.... does insurance cover one (rental, purchace?) Do you get a temp. handicapped parking placard? That is all I can think of right now.... if anyone has any other helpful advice I'd love to hear it! in Iowa, mommy to 11/12/01 bilateral clubfoot
Guest guest
I'm sorry I can't answer your questions since I have not had that experience myself, but I am wondering what the criteria is for the ATTT. Did your daughter relapse multiple times or is there another criteria? Thanks, Carol ATTT Questions.... Well it looks like is going to be needing the ATTT. Guest guest
Carol, She had only one relapse... and the over all motion of her foot is good. It is just she has very strong muscles/tendons on one side of her foot that seem to keep pulling it no matter how long she has been in the FAB. I think that the term Dr. Ponseti used is that she has very strong supinators. (I hope that I got that right) in Iowa, mommy to 11/12/01 bilateral clubfoot > > I'm sorry I can't answer your questions since I have not had that experience myself, but I am wondering what the criteria is for the ATTT. Guest guest
I am also considering Dr. Morcuende for ATTT. I would love to hear from other parents who have had surgery from him. Also, about the experience of dealing with u of I re anesthesia etc. I understand the care is often provided by residents, how did that go? ATTT Questions.... Guest guest
Hi Sorry I didn't see your email sooner, we just got back from vacation. We used an umbrella stroller for transporting Jake around, after both of his surgeries (he was ages 3 yrs and 4 1/2 yrs). It worked very well in that we could still go shopping if necessary...a stroller is much easier to navigate with as compared to a wheelchair. Plus they are much easier to transport in a car. We know from past experience (Jake broke his leg in Nov 2004 and was in a spica cast) that most medical supply places, in our area anyways, don't have pediatric wheelchairs, and the smallest adult size is still pretty large for a small child. They are very heavy besides, and bulky to transport in a car. In any case, our insurance did cover the wheelchair rental 100% for a specified number of weeks, I'm not sure how long (it was long enough to cover the amount of time Jake was in the cast). If you decide to go that route I'd just give a call to your insurance company and they can give you the details. We didn't get a handicap tag. You can easily get one, if you need to, by asking your doctor. They'll give you a signed form that you take to the DMV. (we did get one when Jake was in the spica cast, since we had the wheelchair and it was hard to squeeze the wheelchair in next to the car in a regular parking spot) Good luck, and let me know if you have more questions.
