Actually Dr. P wrote me back today saying he can NOT afford shoes

for . Budget is low, needs are high..he had promised me shoes a

while back...I'm bummed.

Are there any charities out there that could cover the charge? I was worried

that my insurance wouldn't cover the s, but I did just receive a

reimbursement check for all the costs, except for the shipping charge. I did

have to pay out of pocket and wait for a reimbursement check, but my dad was

nice enough to front me the money. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance. I

sent them a copy of our bill, which had the shoes and brace coded as Durable

Medical Equipment, and a letter from the doctor detailing the medical necessity

of the shoes, and why the Markells wouldn't work. I hope this might help.

Lee, I'm sure if you asked Ponseti to type up a letter for you, in lue of

providing shoes, I'm sure he'd be happy to do that for you. It may be better

coming from him anyway since he's the recognized authority on the subject.
