Hi,

Friday night I knew something was up with Emerence - she would not

drink her shake and wanted to go to bed, so I took her temp - 99.

I just knew it and at 1 am she was up crying at 101.4 (tylenol)

which only went down to 101.1 45 minutes later so I gave her

Motrin. However, the next morning she was almost at 102 so I called

the Dr. office and got an appt but canceled after I heard who the

doctor was. So off we went to the ER and got a great nurse but by

then (9:30 am) Emerence had a temp of 104. She hadn't eaten since 6

pm the night before and had a few sips of juice at night. So, they

took tons of blood and then at 12 noon transferred her to the

pediatric ER when it opened where they hooked her up to the iv and

more motrin. Finally, the 3rd dr who saw her found she had

cocksackie virus on her ri ght tonsil. Usually kids get it on their

hands and foot and mouth (hence other name of hand, foot and mouth

disease)...why her right tonsil who knows...

She is a little better today and eating a bit and drinking some but

we'll be home tomorrow. She also sees her ENT tomorrow for a checkup

and hearing test - and one of the ER docs said he thought her tube

was beginning to extrude slightly. She had her first set of tubes

at 9 motnhs, then 17 mo then 25 mo and I really hoped we wouldn't be

h eading for another so soon. The ENT also mentioned a partial

adnoidectomy.

Have to go, Emerence is waking up....and crying.

, mom to 5 and Emerence 2.5
