Guest guest
Hello, Latif & Osama! Is Osama still wearing a brace to maintain correction? Why do you think he lost the dorsiflexion? Is his foot regressing at all? Was he wearing the FAB at night? If he does have the FAB, are the shoes flexed upward (there should be a bend in the bar to facilitate this) to keep the Achilles tendon stretched? About how much dorsiflexion does he have right now (how far can you push his foot up past neutral)? Can he put his foot flat on the floor when standing? As long as he is using the foot properly (can go up and down the stairs normally and is walking heel-to-toe not on his tiptoes) then there shouldn't be any problems with having limited dorsiflexion. That said, there can be complications during growth spurts (say ages 4-6) if the bone portion of his leg grows faster than the muscle/tendon portions. Who is Osama's doctor? Are you scheduled to see them again soon? I would try to get him in to be evaluated. I would also encourage you to do the stretches (look in the files section of this group's website) and wear the FAB diligently at night to try to maintain what dorsiflexion he has now. I hope this helps! & (3-16-00, lcf) > > OSAMA is 2 years old now. (bF).
