Guest guest
Anyone catch the bio on Carney on A & E yesterday? I thought it was interesting, focused on her whole life which included her life-long battle with weight and that she looks great! What I REALLY found interesting was what was NOT said! She did say she saw how nne had lost weight using weight loss surgery and decided she needed to do something fast. They or she did not describe the RNY other than that she had " gastric-bypass " surgery live on the internet. Nor did they say what she personally thought about the surgery, or anything at all about her current eating life style. She also did not " sell " the surgery. Food for thought. Guest guest
Well, it was an A & E Biography episode. The focused on her life and life-long stuggles with weight. The surgery part lasted for all of about two minutes in the last five minutes of the program. Wittgrove was on there for a few seconds saying how she was a good candidate and Alvarado Medical got their name mentioned. There were NO details whatsoever about the surgery other than the words " gastric bypass " . I wouldn't have expected a lot of info on the surgery, but as usual, the concept of wls is presented as if there is only one surgery. -maria At 10:05 AM -0800 11/28/01, rbley8910@... wrote: >Anyone catch the bio on Carney on A & E yesterday? > >I thought it was interesting, focused on her whole life which included >her life-long battle with weight and that she looks great! > >What I REALLY found interesting was what was NOT said! Guest guest
I saw the last 20-30 minutes of the biography, and I think that what struck me most was that it seemed like a fairly balanced picture of a person -- she had all sorts of things going for her, but the weight kept getting in her way, and she kept using food to self-medicate until she was in danger of dying. I liked the fact that they *DIDN'T* delve into the surgery or sell it -- the prog was meant to be a bio, not a sales-pitch. If someone saw the show and started researching " gastric bypass, " they might very well wind up finding info on the DS -- I did! We can hope, right? Another thing that really struck me was how darn fat she looked at 300 lbs, and it made me wonder how much fatter *I* really look than how I *think* I look. (Does that make sense?) I'm a little worried that I'll be horrified by my " before " pictures in a couple of months. Oh well -- can't help that now, right?? ~alyssa Thoughts on Carney - A & E Biography > Anyone catch the bio on Carney on A & E yesterday? > > I thought it was interesting, focused on her whole life which included > her life-long battle with weight and that she looks great! > > What I REALLY found interesting was what was NOT said!
