Guest guest
The DBB (Denis Brown Bar) and FAB (Foot Abduction Brace) are two different terms for the same thing, the brace for the feet which hold them abducted to 70 degrees and slightly dorsiflexed, typically. The Markell shoes are the typical brace with white leather shoes which is the most common type of shoe/brace used after casting in the treatment for club feet. The shoes/brace (sometimes called the Ponseti/ brace or the P/M's) is a different type of shoe with a brace, actually AFO's (Ankle/Foot Orthosis) which are custom made and are a three strap sandal which is more comfortable for the baby. Here is the website so you can see the s, which my daughter has (they are relative new, within the past couple of years). http://www.mdorthopaedics.com/index.htm<http://www.mdorthopaedics.com/index.htm> You can google Markell and get their website which will show you what these shoes look like. Many people originally chose the shoes because their babies couldn't tolerate the Markells (sores and such), but now lots of people seem to be choosing the shoes because they are easier for parents to put on and more comfortable for babies. Insurance covers different shoes in different ways so you must check with your insurance company, if you have insurance. Hope that helps! I recall finding all these terms very confusing! Carol and , bcf, 10/5, s 18/7 difference Hi? anybody can tell us what's the difference between Markell shoes, brace and the dennis browne brace? what is DBB and FAB and AFO? thanks niquiel
