na is 11 and a half months now and has been in the DBB for one

and a half months. I went and saw her DR..Dr. Pirani two weeks

ago..and he said she could reduce hrs to 20 for 2 weeks..then 16 after

that. The 20 hrs a day went well..but its been a couple days since

she is supposed to have them on for 16 hrs and it seems that her feet

(dorsiflexion) are a little bit more stiff than before..not much..just

a little. So I was just wondering if this is normal or if this is not

good. I am still making her wear them for 20 hrs until i figure this

out.

Thanks

Hi ,

Let me ask you...when you were checking her dorsiflexion, do you think

she may have been tensing a bit? If baby is pushing against you when

you are pushing the foot upwards, it can seem that they have less

dorsiflexion than they actually do. Just a thought cuz with your strict

adherance to the bracing protocols set by Dr. Pirani, I just can't see

her losing any dorsiflexion this quickly. If you are really worried, I

would call Dr. Pirani and voice your concerns to him! Lord knows that

yoy two have been through a ton to get to where you are now, if I were

you, I'd give him a call and have a chat just to put your mind at ease.

You know how great his is and I hope you know that he would really not

mind you calling about this or ANY issue na may have! How is she

otherwise?

Hi ,

I agree with here, na is old enough now that she is

probably pushing back. I am always worried about Sammy's dorsiflexion

b/c I can't get him to flex his foot for anything, usually only about

5, maybe 10 degrees at the most, he just pushes back (he's 20 months

now, but has been doing this a lot since he was 7 or 8 months old).

But everytime we go to the doctor, he pushes on Sammy's foot and

viola! it goes right on up to 20 degrees. I think it is just they

know that they can push back when it is Mommy and the doctor is

obviously more knowledgeable about how hard he can push without

hurting them. If your next appointment with dr. Pirani isn't for a

while, maybe just give him a call and voice your concerns. What if

you compromise and give her 18 hours a day until your appointment?
