Guest guest
Hi, Y'all, First, let me say I have gotten excellent info from this group in posts and personal email--thanks to you all. I'm a critical care nurse, and I still have hundreds of questions, concerns, and fears. How many more someone with no medical background must have boggles my mind. Without those of you who have gone before--thru surgery, insurance hassles, and pre and post operative complications where would those of us coming after be? Lost. That said............ If someone is researching WLS s/he needs to be able to receive civil answers about WHY the DS procedure is so much superior to the RNY *in terms of quality of life issues* as well as weightloss/lack of regain issues. How is anyone supposed to ask which procedure is better if s/he doesn't use the *name* of the procedure they are asking about? As soon as RNY comes off someone's keyboard, y'all jump in their poop. May I offer this suggestion--point them to the DS website where anatomy, comparisons, personal experience, surgeons, insurance, long term reports, and links aid them in their quest for the best procedure for them; then invite them back with their questions *about DS* after they have done their homework. If they have questions about RNY, they can go to the RNY groups. Stupid doesn't enter into it here, either; misinformed, brainwashed, ignorant maybe; but stupid, no. Personally, I get more good info in a devil's advocate situation--but some folks are offended and feel personally attacked. Easy Does It!
