Guest guest
WARNING - THIS CONTAINS PERSONAL INFO. IF YOU OFFEND EASY, DON'T READ I am now 5 months post-op and will be 33 next month. Prior to surgery I had lots of problems with my periods being really heavy, bad cramps, etc. I also had some pain with intercourse. My OB/GYN had me go through tons of tests and we found nothing except my uterus was swollen. He suspects adenomyosis, but the only way to get a definate diagnosis is to remove the uterus and disect it. He wanted to take a conservative approach, so I had a D & C done about a month before my DS surgery. After my DS surgery, I still had lots of problems with my periods, so I tried birth control pills. They made me really sick and I couldn't eat for 2 days until they were out of my system. There was some hope that the weight loss would help the problems I have been having. Instead, they seem worse. The pain is so bad that I can no longer have sex with my husband. I also have constant lower back and lower abdominal pain/discomfort. I think we have gotten to the point of a hysterectomy being the last resort. Since I am done having babies, that part doesn't bother me. I just wonder how this would affect me since I am only 5 months post-op. Besides that, has my body healed enough from my open DS surgery to be able to handle another surgery? I have lost a lot of my excess weight and I am getting near goal. What kinds of risks are involved since I had DS surgery? I have an appointment to see my OB/GYN next week and I want to be prepared when I go. The thought of another surgery doesn't sound too good to me, but I also can't stand this pain anymore. Why would it be worse since I lost so much weight? Kathy M. DS 7/19/01 213 pre-op 131 today
