Guest guest
Evelyn, When they painted my daughter's school last year she started coming home with F's. It was really scary. They would paint the rooms at night, and then the children would breathe it in the morning, and it took them a couple of months to get the whole school painted. This is a child normally on the honor roll. Do you have a grandmother or someone he could stay with for a few days? Do you do epsom salts baths? That might help his detox chemistry. If you can, get all the windows open and let things air out as best you can. Even latex has a lot of volatile fumes. Guest guest
Thanks everyone for the responses about paint fumes. We stayed out all day today. I wish there was somewhere we could go for the week. We are painting the whole house -- except the two rooms I did last summer. I found something that eliminates odors at Meijers called " Odor Magnets. " I just bought three of them and have them sitting in front of a couple of hepa air filters. We had the windows open all day but the house really smells of paint. Before we started interventions, Austin reacted to the least little perfume -- let alone something as strong as paint. Austin seems to be ok today. I will have to wait and see what happens. Thanks again. Guest guest
Two things you can do; 1) use Dutchboy Kids room paint, there are virtually no fumes and it contains a lot less chemicals vs other paints (plus it's washable) we're in the process of repainting our house with it and it's been great, no reaction from my very sensitive son 2) Buy or rent an ozonator and let it run for 8 -24 hours in the painted room. The newer ozonators are supposedly safe to use while you're in the room but to be safe I'd use it with the doors closed and if possibly when noone will be home. We did this when we first moved into our new home 4 years ago and it got rid of all the paint/ new carpet/linoleum etc fumes/gases.
