And the research journey begins...

First, I need to say thank you to everyone that has welcomed me here

to this group. I am very early in my journey. I still do not know if

I am going to do this, one minutes I say to myself to go for it, the

next I get scared.

I did go and purchase a book on WLS by someone named Boatsen

(sp??) so my research will continue.

My first question to this group (the first of about a million

probably) is what is my first step? I really would like to see if I

could even get this procedure approved through my insurance. I have

BCBS of NJ, and I did read that they have an exclusion for obesity.

My stats put me in the " MO " range, so perhaps I can get around it

that way. Also, Since this summer I have had three PCP. My Old PCP

from my previous insurance had twins, then I really had no one until

the insurance change this summer. The first two PCP STUNK. I haven;t

even made an appointment for the third, but she comes highly

recommended and even went to medical school with someone I know, so I

think she will be ok.

My plan of attack (and please tell me if this is a good idea) is to

go to my PCP and get a complete physical, with high blood pressure,

cholesterol readings, etc. Should I mention to here that I would like

the look into WLS? Does anyone here have BCBS of NJ? If you do please

share your experiences.

Again, I am sorry to bombard with questions, but I figure this is the

best place to start. I am a teacher, so I will spend my Xmas vacation

reading the book.

Anyway, that is enough for now. Everyone here is going to start

groaning when they see any posts from me since I write so much.

Thanks again,
