Guest guest
Hi, Our daughter is being treated by Dr. in MI after walking on club feet in Russia....she is almost three....her right foot was totally turned under and still looks a little " off " ........what is considered complex? Also, I had her practicing walking on them with me holding her hands when she was out of her brace and it looks like the back heel of the right foot kind of slides out when she is in that motion....what is that???? Thanks, wrote: Kaitlyn, Now I remember, I think you mentioned Dr. Adamcyzk before. I have to tell you that I was wrong. : ) There's a new paper out from Dr. Ponseti on complex clubfoot and they ARE recommending that these feet be set at a lesser degree! I had perused the paper but had missed this part: " Well-molded shoes attached in 40° outer rotation to a foot abduction bar are indispensable to prevent relapse in short, stubby complex clubfeet. " " The foot should not be abducted beyond 40°. " So Yay! Sounds like Dr. Adamcyzk is up on the latest stuff. You should talk to him about submitting the case studies required to get on Dr. Ponseti's qualified physicians list. I hope you don't feel that we have been too tough on him (or you) in our scrutiny of his techniques and in questioning things. I'm sure you've heard this before, but it is very common for a doctor to say he is using the Ponseti method and then " tweak " things to his liking but in the process decreasing the success of the method and/or increasing the chances of relapse. It's great to hear of someone new who is doing things right! Wishing you and Kaden continued success! Keep us posted on his progress. > > > > > > Hi everyone!
