Guest guest
I just came from getting my son tested for allergies and would like some help in understanding the results. First, my son has been GFCF for a little over a month. On the 3rd day, he had his first solid stool ever. It did not last long so I suspected that there were other allergies at play. They did a skin test of 32 items. Cow's milk was 1-2 and wheat was 0. I was not surprised at this since I understand it is not an allergy but intolerance. The big surprise was that he had a 2-3 on soy and fish. The doctor wrote down that I should avoid soy protein by soy oil and lecithin is OK. Do you guys agree? The fish they tested was a combination of cod, flounder and halibut. Does this mean he can have no fish? My husband will be crushed. He believes fish is the perfect food and if he had his way, that would be the only meat I ever feed the kids. The items he had a 2 for are broccoli (my son's favorite veggie), corn :'(, squash (does that mean zucchini) and yeast. She wrote in her notes to avoid corn protein but corn oil, starch and syrup are OK. I don't understand. Can someone enlighten me? What about cornmeal? My next biggest surprise is that sweet potato only has a 1. He has had it 3 times. The first 2 times he threw up all night. The 3rd time it was a minor ingredient in Gerber Graduates veggie crackers. He had diahrea and a tummy ache. She said it was probably low because he has not had it for over a year. Does someone outgrow allergies? I know I should have asked her more questions but I was in such shock over soy and corn that I could not think. What is there left to feed him? I have been reading posts for a couple of months now and everytime I read a post from someone with a child with multiple allergies I just say thank God that is not my son. Will this ever end? Guest guest
Wow, ! What a shock you must have had! To re-intro myself, I'm Cheryl, homeschooling mom to twin 6yo Aspies. My kids are gfcf and we also use the Feingold diet, stage two. I've suspected corn & soy to be problems, but haven't known where to go for testing. Could you PLEASE tell me where you had such good testing performed?? Also, I don't know if you order from Miss Roben's or not, but they do specify which foods are free from soy & corn as well as gfcf. Hth a little!
