Guest guest
I sent Dr. P the pics yesterday, and he said that toe thing was Ok. She would grow out of it over time. He also said that he noticed that she likes to hold her foot inwards, and that I should increase her P/M hrs back up to 18hrs. ( He said that if she holds it like that, she is more likely to relapse. She is at 10hrs a day now. Any advice on how to increase it that much? Should I add a couple hrs at a time over the next month, week? Or should I go full on and see what happens, and hope for the best? Christee P.S. That was the first time I've painted her toe nails. The brush was too big, so I used a Q-tip...lol...it only lasted a few days before it wore off though. I will do it again before her B-day (Friday she will be 1yr..YAY!). Re: Please look Christee, I looked at the pics and they look good to me, but I am not a Dr. If you are worried about the big toe. Both Karter's feet do this and asked Dr. P. back in April and he said something like he will outgrow some of that. His big toe nail also points straight up into the air. (very hard to cut) and he said the same about the toe nail. Anyway hope this helps Tabitha Christee Dawson wrote: Can those of you that belong to the CFPics group look at Lilee's feet and tell ,me what you think? Guest guest
Christee, Ah... Well... Back to 18 hours it is then. Not necessarily what you wanted to hear, but it's a minor set-back in the grand scheme of things. Do things the right way *now*, and that foot will be perfect forever. I think you should at least try going straight back to 18 hours. My little guy was still in his FAB at least that much at Lilee's age, and you know what?--he dealt with it just fine. He got around, he crawled, he stood, he cruised. If Lilee's having a terrible time, take the FAB off for a little while, but then *get that thing back on her*. Dr Ponseti is not just making a suggestion here, he's telling you what you need to do. Guest guest
Christee, Didn't Dr. Ponseti tell you to increase the hours a while ago? You are just going to have to go back up to the 18 hours. My daughter did her 23/7 time when she was 13-16 months old and she did fine. She did all of the things that she wanted to do. She did not like it at first but she got over it. It was necessary so it was done. So, just do it. Otherwise, it is really not going to do any good to send Dr. Ponseti pictures and ask for his advice if you don't take it. Guest guest
Christee, I don't have any " magic " trick when Lily has had to go back and forth with casts and increased hours in her brace except... Lily was about a year too and I found she was quite whiny about it. Things that she could do easily out of the brace, she was quite mad about in the brace and the casts. She wanted me to pick her up, and lift her instead of climbing herself, etc. All I did, and it was really hard, was let her cry and whine and just tell her that if she wanted that toy (for example), she would have to get it and I knew she could do it. I told her [kisses] and then went to fold laundry or otherwise keep my hands busy. I found that she pretty quickly was back to doing everything she was doing before and was happy about it. She probably had a day or so's quite cranky adjustment... It's a bummer about Lilee's feet (love the spelling) but great that you are catching it now. Lilee will quickly adjust--does she have siblings? She will discover the brace is REALLY effective in clearing other children from the toy box perimeter so she can have free reign! > Can those of you that belong to the CFPics group look at Lilee's feet and tell ,me what you think? > Thanks > > Christee > >
