Guest guest
Well, folks, even though no one gave me any advice about what to do about my disability, unemployment, lack of money fears.....I called Dr. Hess' office today. I decided just to get my gumption up and ask if he had any open January dates (the woman there can be nice, but she can be imtimidating, too).....so I started by telling her not to yell at me, then went into a description of my delima and was on the verge of tears anyway, she could hear me trying *not* to cry.....so she didn't yell! I had my surgery date moved to Jan. 14th. I guess someone who was scheduled for that date already had their surgery, so it was open. I even told her I would have to go with Dr. Oakley if necessary, though I still wanted Dr. Hess, and then she called the hospital to find out if they had anything open and gave me this one. So - if anyone has insurance approval and is going to Dr. Hess and wants to move up to Dec. 18th, you probably could have that date. I told her now she had to open to give someone else, but she said most people don't want to have surgery around Christmas. Then I told her about the 20 on our list who were doing it! So, then I called about the disability. Seems the paragraph I was reading had to do with if I had a rider on my policy for total disability (we're talking in the years here) - then I'd have to meet the not able to do daily activities thing. But they still didn't want to make a determination on the phone. They said they'd have to get the information from the Dr. and even from my previous employer to see if Iwas getting workman's comp (which I am not). So, I told her that I was now on unemployment and I didn't really want my previous employer contacted since they laid me off a week after I asked for time off for surgery. She said I could send in the unemployment determination, etc, and then they would make sure the date was not before my policy went into effect (which it wasn't). Anyway, I sent everything to Dr. Hess' office along with the portion I filled out and the unemployment stuff so they could send it all in together. I hope hope hope I will get disability since I will be too disabled to get unemployment!! But, even if I don't, taking that additional 4 weeks of unemployment puts me in a little better place. so, I am not on the Dec. list anymore, but on the Jan. list now.
