Guest guest
I've been reading a lot of negative experiences regarding the Hanger helmets. I just wanted to say that so far I am very satisfied with my experience at Hanger. My son, 5 1/2 months, is almost 3 weeks into wearing his helmet and my husband and I have seen positive results from the very beginning. He adjusted really well and everyone at Hanger has been extremely helpful at answering any and all of our questions and concerns. Although we have just begun the process, I stay optimistic that we will have a positive outcome. I feel terrible for all of those who did not have the same positive experience. I think every situation is unique and I'm sure certain locations are better than others. I just didn't want someone choose to not get a helmet at all rather than checking out the closest Hanger location based on all the negativity. Guest guest
We also went with Hanger and we loved it. I dont understand a lot about what the measurements mean but I do know that we started out at 102% and stopped the helmet at around 86% (our choice) but reccomended by our PT and OT. Also, the cranial surgeon who referred us for the helmet thinks his head looks great and so do we. Our experience with Hanger was a very good one. Our Orthotist was great, very professional, knowledgeable, and kind. I have always believed that success of helmeting has more to do with the Orthotist and his experience than the actual appliance. Where do you live? We are in NY state.Im glad to hear that you are having a good experience with them too. Good luck. ;-) Jessie
Guest guest
We too went with Hanger and had a positive experience. My son, now 10 months old, graduated from the helmet back in November. I was happy with the correction he got from wearing the helmet, and we also had a very nice professional and helpful orthotist. I remember feeling very anxious about the choice we made with Hanger after reading some negative comments about them. My son had just started wearing his helmet. It was helpful to get some positive feedback when I asked about it. So I wanted to be sure to add a positive experience for others out there that might have any concerns. Good luck and best wishes ~ hope all goes well! Ann > > We also went with Hanger and we loved it. Guest guest
Ann, Thanks for sharing. Unfortunately, I think that it's the people with problems with their helmets that tend to post most. So, like you said, the positive experiences with Hanger and STARband don't get posted as much. This is probably more true of Hanger than STARband. So, people read and think that they won't have a good experience if they choose these options. I know that i worried about using Hanger because of what I'd read. STARband was recommended by our doctor and that was enough for me to trust it. Otherwise, without that recommendation, I would have been afraid to go with anyone but CT. CT would have been an option for us (only 90 minutes away), but we would have had to wait and extra couple of weeks to get started so we just went with the STARband since was already so "old." Plus, CT would only promise me 4 months of treatment and the STARband ortho agreed to a possible 6 months. So, we did the STARband and we had a positive exprience. , mom to , 28 months STARband grad Nov 2008 to May 2009 Chiro and CST land Re: Hanger helmetsWe too went with Hanger and had a positive experience. Guest guest
102 percent is quite severe. Starting from that and going down to 86 percent is wonderful. If were down that low, I'd be thrilled. Re: Hanger helmets We also went with Hanger and we loved it. Guest guest
Please everyone with the positive experiences remember to put it in the database. New people looking for info on certain locations are frequently referred there 1st (and also search the archives so your post if it contains location may be helpful too). I know I checked there and got mixed reviews on our hanger but up to date is so important b/c orthotists and thus opinions can change or they can gain more experience.
