Location: Is there reflux after surgery?

I have several comorbidities. By far the worst is reflux. When it

mixes with my apnea its a bad combination. I have read the posts of a

few patients, and they conflict. Some report huge improvements in

their reflux, others say the reflux remains after surgery. What are

your experiences, and why do you think it is this way?

,

I forget my user name and password for the BB, 'cuz I do not use it

even though I registered.

Anyway, I stopped taking my Prilosec several weeks after

surgery--maybe a month. Have not missed it. Once in a great while I

get mild reflux, but an over-the-counter dose of Pepcid takes care of

it.

However, on Day 2 after surgery, I had the worst reflux that I had

EVER experienced, and it took Prilosec plus whatever was in my IV

(that I did not know was in my IV, but later found that something was

there--maybe Zantac), plus a roll of TUMS to put out the fire. And

EVERYTHING that I drank came back up as sour, sour, sour. But, a day

or so later, that calmed down, too.

Hope this helps,

Steve
