Hi,

My name is Debbie. I posted before convention about

my daughter Hannah. I have extensive knowledge of

gluten-free casein-free diet. My son was on it for 3

1/2 years. Eventually he was hardly eating at all and

broke down and told me everytime he sat down for a

snack or meal he just felt so sad/depressed about

having to be on the diet. Please read my post

carefully for all the " pros " and " cons " of this diet.

YES - it did reverse his rapidly developing autism,

did so quickly, and he is still " normal " (and very

bright) today.

HOWEVER, he became a very reluctant eater who ate very

little and he also has growth issues like my Hannah.

He's 1/2 " shorter than Hannah and they are 13 days

apart in age from different birth families. Did I

save him from autism with the diet? Yes, I am

convinced I did. But I wish I'd know about and used

the enzymes below sooner.

NOW he uses enzymes from Houston Nutraceuticals and

eats anything he wants. Their enzymes were specially

designed for kids with autism spectrum disorder to

" counteract " or help the body break down the gluten

and casein so can eat whatever he wants. He

now is a pretty good eater except at breakfast. BEST

OF ALL he is no longer " depressed " about being on a

" special " diet nor " depressed " at the sight of food.

uses the " classic " Peptizyde formula rather

than the " new and improved " - he was very allergic to

that one.

HOWEVER, Hannah is severely ALLERGIC to the both

formulations. Though her only issue is " lactose " ,

she's very seriously lactose-intolerant.

Many kids with autism spectrum disorders have

benefitted from the GF-CF diet, however, it can bring

on further problems in itself. More kids have had

better results using the Houston Enzymes instead.

I used to work with autistic children for 20+ years

before adopting my two children and specialized in

early intervention. Most successful outcomes in

autism spectrum disorders involve a variety of

intervetions, such as sensory integration therapy,

floortime, diet or enzymes, and specialized

instruction rather than just " one " intervention. And

not every child's autism is related to gluten or

casein, however, an increasing number of kids in the

spectrum do have such issues. I would avoid futher

vaccinations if possible.

Hi Debbie, i niver was aware of enzymes by Houston Neutraceuticals, just curious

do you have to do the diet before you start them on this , or does it benefit

autism if not on this diet, please let me know , I have alot of friends with

autistic kids, and they give up whn kids won't eat it , its a diet i know that

you have to be very committed to doing and sticking to it. They are not that

motivated , and before we knew Dakoda didnt have pdd , we tried it for 3months ,

I also gave n to teachers tellng me wasnt eating , and he did lose two pounds on

it , so don't belv i was that committed either. It's a very hard diet to do ,

but know alot of autism kids benefit from it . Let me know about it enzymes if

you don't mind.

Thanks

Sheryl

Our neighbors are very involved in autism support groups. Both

parents support this diet but sadly, it did NOT help either of their

two boys. However, they have seen it help other children with

autism and have told me that they recommend that, upon a doctor's

advice and monitoring, that any child with autism try it -- just

know that it may not work with your child. It doesn't " cure " the

autism, I guess, just help with some of the aspects. I have ZERO

experience in this area -- so am only repeating heresay.
