Hi, everyone -- as if we didn't have enough intestinal/stomach problems

post-op DS, some Mistic sparkling water may contain ammonia and seriously

irritate the area.

Just thought I'd give the word up unless anyone has any of this in the house

-- there's an info line for the company in the article if you have any

questions. I know I have some sparkling water in the house but I'm not sure

of the brand name.. now I have to go check!

all the best,

Mistic Brands Has Recalled Clear Sparkling Sodas

White Plains, NY (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said

that Mistic Brands, Inc. has recalled clear sparkling sodas because they

have the potential to be contaminated with ammonia. At elevated

concentrations, ammonia causes a burning sensation in the throat and

gastritis. Ingestion of large doses of ammonia could also lead to nausea,

vomiting, thirst, headache and acidosis.

The products affected bear the plant code CT571 on the bottle. This code

usually appears on the widest part of the bottle at the base of the taper.

This recall only affects the following flavors and package sizes:

16oz. Mistic Sparkling - blue glass bottle

Flavors: Lime Kiwi, Mango Passion, Peach, Raspberry Boysenberry, and Wild

Cherry 16oz. Mistic Sparkling - Zero Calorie clear glass bottle

Flavors: Lime Kiwi, Raspberry Boysenberry and Wild Cherry

These Mistic sparkling sodas have been distributed in the following states:

New York, Connecticut, northern and central New Jersey and Pennsylvania

(outside Philadelphia)

This voluntary recall is the result of Mistic testing of product produced by

a third party bottler, Hillside Bottling in Hillside, NJ. Mistic has ceased

production and distribution of these products at this location and is

continuing its investigation as to what caused the problem. To date, there

have been no reported illnesses.

Mistic is instructing all retailers that sell these products to remove them

from their shelves. Customers who have purchased these beverages with the

above-mentioned code should return them to the store where purchased for a

full refund.

Consumers with questions may contact the Company at 1 800 764-7842.

At Mistic, our top priorities are to protect the health and safety of our

consumers and to preserve the integrity of our products.
