15%??? I

'm sure this is dumb but I read alot about this 15% as being a relatively good

benchmark for our children in terms of weight for height - not tooooo skinny but

no " excess " fat. What is this 15% for instance - is this BMI and if so, then

this is not weight for height, is it? I have a simple weight for height chart

for from his doctor in Japan and he is currently between -20 and -10% 9

(that is minus).

Does anyone know?

BMI???

I got the absolutely great CD from MAGIC for inputting details and BMI is

around 10-13%. This is way below the actual chart lines. Is that the same for

most children? is on GH. I've read recently that this can sometimes hinder

weight gain although our doctor here says it will aid weight gain.

GH dosage??

I've been asking my doctor for ' growth velocity readings every time I go

for the past 2 years, and I've always got a hazed look and a response that GH

dosage is determined purely on the weight. Just on our last visit, the doctor

explained how in Australia, New Zealand they calculate maximum dosage based on

growth velocity on any particular dosage. She surely can't have been listening

to me since she acted like this was the first time this idea had emerged and she

said she thought that was the best method - although they dont' measure it! I

ask you! I also got the impression that Dr H puts alot of store by growth

velocity whereas Dr Stanhope sets his dosage according to the child's skin

surface area.

To make it harder, is measured lying down even at nearly 4 years since he

is below 90cms and the high-tech measuring machines don't go below that height

level! How dumb is that?

A bit of a muddled set of questions - but can anyone sort me out?

tks
