Guest guest
Hi le, We did this with two years ago. However, due to the fact that he had RSS, we did a partial tonsilectomy and a partial adenoidectomy. We also put tubes in his ears at the same time. at age 3, was probably the same size (or smaller) than Carlee is now. We were very pleased. No more snoring. He sleeps very peacefully now. Good luck, Judith, Steve, (RSS) and (non RSS) 5 year old twins
Guest guest
We finally had Tim's tonsils out a year ago after almost 2 years of sleep apnea problems. We were concerned about whether he could be intubated properly, because he couldn't be intubated at birth and had severe problems w/intubation during a GI surgery because of anatomical issues (and since this surgery was in the airway, we wondered if there would be room problems...). We were also concerned about how much to take out, since he had hyponasality and others have had problems with the barrier between the nose and throat after such surgeries. We finally opted for getting his tonsils and not his adenoids out with a really good anesthesiologist. It has made a world of difference! Our's son's sleep apnea had been so severe at times (off and on wvarious colds, etc) that he would sometimes sit up and gasp for air in his sleep! The tonsillectomy fixed this, thank God! Guest guest
le If I am reading your email right, Carlee has already had the sleep study. Is that right? So what will they be operating on? Do you know for sure it's tonsils? I haven't had that issue with my son........but we have gone through 2 sleep studies........so if you need help on that front......let me know. Guest guest
Debby…You are right. Carlee had her sleep study done in the first of July. I was at the ent's office with Coby and asked if he could peek at Carlee's results so that if they were normal I didn't have to make the 2 hour drive back to his office the next week. He looked and said that it was not normal and that she would need her tonsils and adenoids removed to help the obstructive apnea. However, we went back to see him yesterday so that he could take a good look at the results. Well, she does NOT have obstructive apnea so there is no need at this point to remove the tonsils or adenoids. She does have central apnea. She has to see a neurologist and of course we can't get an appt with him until the end of September. If anyone has any experience with central sleep apnea I would be very greatful. There is not a lot of specific information on it on the web. Thanks, le, mom to: Shye, Brock, and Coby (rss) & Carlee
