I am not sure about the back roll, but I have a slightly curved spine

and fat-butt, and sleeping on my back normally caused extreme

backache. I found that if I put a pillow under my knee crease, there

was little or no backache. BTW, now that I have lost some weight,

the problem is not as severe.

I specifically asked the nurse-anesthetist to have my knees supported

from below during surgery, and she assured me that they would do so.

I had no backache problems when I awoke.

When they were setting me up in the operating table, they put nice

cushy pillows under my arms and knees. I had no problems with pain in

my back or arms after surgery. You can ask them to do that in the

operating room.

I stayed with my mom after surgery and she has an adjustable bed. It

was great! At home I used a wedge pillow and it worked really well too.

Especially since there seems to be quite a bit of stomach acid right

after surgery.
