Oh Judie- even though I will be out...I am a biggggg chicken! I'm

gonna be nervous until it is over and done with..lol.

Let me ask you a question. I realize you are neither a doctor nor a

psychic so I don't expect you to give me a guarentee, but in your own

opinion (cause you have been at this site much longer then I and you

been through the surgery yourself and seen may others through it as

well). Just an opinion mind you...do you think I'll have a fairly

quick recovery (if everything goes as planned during surgery itself)?

I am 31...never had surgery. Very healthy except for the weight. I

walk a lot (am on my feet a lot for work). Aside from lower back

pain and occassional knee and hip pain, no co-morbidities. BMI

50.5. I do smoke (but plan on quitting well before the surgery) and

I do have IBS.

You have read seen a lot of people post here and must have formed

some ideas on who is more likely to run into a harder recovery then

someone else. I was just wondering what you think my recovery might

be like? I'm just curious I guess.

Hugs,

I think you are realtively healthy and in good shape for surgery (except for

that smoking...you MUST quit quickly and begin excersizing those lungs by

blowing up baloons several times a day to expand your lungs etc)

You are pretty young......31 compared to my 57 but I was pretty healthy too

for my age (Except for being fat)

I think when you wake up and if your pain is under good control you will

have an easy time of it. Just remember to get up when you can and walk,

walk, walk and sip, sip, sip that water!!!

As far as the endoscopy is concerned everybody says its no big deal. In

fact one gal I know who had the RNY has had 8 of them and they dont bother

her anymore since they put her out and she is aware of nothing!

I cant say the surgery wont hurt for you.....becuz it will but everybodys

pain tolerance is different but I think you will do just fine. Keep on top

of the pain and it will be minimal.
