Guest guest
Hi , My first thoughts are....... Did your daughter have either a fundoplication or a pyloroplasty done when her g-tube was placed?? had both done when his g-tube was placed. The fundoplication help reduce reflux, and the pyloroplasty aids with gastric emptying. Has Eleanor been tested for delayed gastric emptying?? A LOT of our kids have this problem, some even experience this problem after having a pyloroplasty done! Do you vent your daughter's g-tube regularly?? Dr H recommends venting every 6 hours for 15 minutes at a time. She, also, had us vent for 5 minutes each time he had a gagging episode. Have you tried a Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) like Prilosec or Prevacid, instead of, or in conjunction with the Zantac for reflux?? We give Zantac in the morning, and Prevacid at night. Is Eleanor on bolus feeds, or continuous feeds?? cannot tolerate bolus feeding, and has been on continuous feeds since the placement of his g-tube. Since Eleanor is g-tube fed, have you tried stopping the Periactin??? This can increase reflux. I'm not sure what domperidone is used for?? ANY of these things could be causing increased vomiting. Hope this helps??? Pat (g-ma to , RSS, 3 yrs 5 months old, 23#, 33 " , G-tube, GHT)
