Just wondering if anyone has experience with CranioSacral therapy and

SomatoEmotional Release.... A doctor recommended this for

today. I did a little research and found some interesting things:

What conditions can CranioSacral Therapy help?

Because of its influence on the functioning of the central nervous

system, CranioSacral Therapy can benefit the body in a number of ways

— from bolstering overall health and resistance to disease to

alleviating a wide range of specific medical conditions.

Dr. H said something at the convention that I never heard her say

before - she said that many of these kids have central nervous system

insult as a result of prematurity and low birthweight and do much

worse behaviorally with early exposure to androgens.

Here's a list of conditions that craniosacral is used for that are

somewhat related to 's problems (some RSS issues & some other

issues he has suffered from):

Newborns with early trauma, including birth trauma

Stress-related dysfunctions (poor digestion is listed in this area as

well as headaches & other things you would typically associate with

stress)

Sensory disorders

Autism (Dr. mentioned there was a higher incidence on the PDD

spectrum in RSS)

Emotional difficulties

Orthopedic problems such as scoliosis

Learning disabilities

Here's what I found on SomatoEmotional Release:

It's a therapeutic process that expands on the principles of

CranioSacral Therapy to help rid the mind and body of the residual

effects of trauma. At various times throughout the session, the

practitioner will support a client's limbs and spine while

facilitating release of accumulated tension. This process is called

energy cyst release or tissue release. During this release, the

client might recall circumstances surrounding a past shock, trauma or

injury. Releasing and re-experiencing past hurts assists the body in

reversing dysfunction and restoring the previous level of mobility.

Has anyone had this therapy, and if so, did you find it helpful? In

other words, if you have experience with this, do you think it would

be worthwhile for me to try with ? It's not cheap & I don't

think insurance will cover it. Looking forward to responses!
