Guest guest
Hi Marcy, I've never heard of this brand of GH. uses Genotropin with a mixer. Dr H, also requested that we wait to start 's GH until she had seen him at the convention last year. She wanted to make sure she had accurate weight and height measurements before he started. Our Endo wasn't worried about this at all. We went ahead, got our training, and had everything ready. We took all the supplies with us to the convention, and then started Bran's shot the night after his appt. Our biggest problem was that the company set us up with a pen device, did all our training with that, and then Dr H insisted that we use a syringe!! This really stressed me out!! If it hadn't been for some wonderful friends at the convention, (THANK YOU JODY Z AND CARMEN!!!) I would have lost it!! THIS is a BIG advantage to starting the shots AT the convention. There are plenty of experienced people around to help you out and show you the ropes!!! Dr H likes us to use insulin syringes because the needles are smaller, and you can give a more accurate dose. gets 10 units delivered with a 50 unit syringe. For a long time I couldn't give the shot without using an Inject-Ease. This is a device that hold the syringe (so the child cannot not see it). It is spring loaded so that the needle goes in quickly and painlessly. It's maybe an inch in diameter, so it's easier to hold on to, and keep steady, then the syringe alone. BUT after about 9 months of usage, our spring gave out, and became unreliable, so I learned to give the shot with only the syringe. I still don't like doing 's shots, but I've learned to deal with it. If I were you, I would get the training, and the supplies, and then just hold onto everything until the convention rolls around. Especially since you said the difference was only a week! It won't hurt na to get one shot and then no more for a week. was actually started on GH the first time at 13 months of age! When we found out that the Dr was limiting him to 6 months of GH, dependent on results, and that GH is not the ruling factor for growth under the age of 2, we decided after a week of shots to stop. And strangely enough, has a MAJOR growth spurt right after we stopped! LOL Taking GH to the convention isn't really that big a deal. You can pack everything in an insulated lunch bag, with a couple of freezer packs for traveling. The biggest thing for us last year was making sure that the GH stayed cold, but didn't freeze. We prevented that by wrapping the pen case in paper towels for insulation. Hope this helps!!
