Guest guest
Hi, we are in Monterey, welcome! I am the adoptive mommy to a 2 year old girl with RSS. Introduction to Tanner Tanner is 10 years old with RSS. He weighs 40 pounds right now. We just got physical custody of him in June. He weighed 36 pounds when he got here. His mom used to tell Tanner that he was a dwarf, and called him " Shorty " , even had that printed on his soccer jersey. So far, he is on a high calorie diet alone. He was on growth hormones when he was a toddler. He is in 4th grade, and doing well. Some kids have made comments, but he has amazing strength. We don't know anyone locally with RSS, and are hoping to meet more kids here. We live in Northern CA. Tanner is just starting to type, and wants to learn more about RSS too. His teacher is going over it with him today. Tanner has been through a lot in his life already, and we are looking forward to this transition being a positive one for him. Guest guest
Elisabeth, Welcome to this wonderful group, and I am so glad to hear Tanner is in a place where he is getting the attention that his RSS needs. Too bad about his mom. So, is Tanner no longer on GH? If so, will you be starting it up again? Have you checked out The MAGIC Foundation website yet? They are a great support for all of us and would encourage you to check them out and join as well. The cost is minimal. Go to www.magicfoundation.org. I am glad Tanner is doing well and take care. Guest guest
Hi Jodi- Thank you. Yes, I did check out the magic foundation, and just joined again. They do have a great website. I am not sure if Tanner will be on GH again (he was on it for a short time when he was a toddler, but I am not sure why he was stopped). We just got him to the pediatrician, and he is working to get a medical history on Tanner. Our pediatrician has had patients with RSS. Has the GH helped your child?
