Guest guest
as everyone knows I take hepatico for my hep-c but I do keep track of my viral load and my alt and my ast. My ast and alt are lower than in years but I go by my viral load also since that is what the doctors are most concerned about here in Phoenix. My als and ast seem to fluxate but not allot. I hope this helps but I am sure there will be more answers to your question. R.R. Guest guest
, the only quantitative test I know of is the PCR. This will tell you how much of the virus is present. That doesn't necessarily correlate with the damage it has done, a liver biopsy is the only way I know they can accurately assess amount of liver damage. -dz- --- <rvf263@...> wrote: > > > hello everyone, I would like to know how can you > tell how active hep- > C is in your blood? Guest guest
Hi There are blood tests that check for the hepc virus. All of the tests mentioned in your post can be clues that hepc or some other liver damaging problem might exist. Guest guest
You want to know how I found out?? I was in an accident in 1999 and went to the hosp.... also for other things I thought were something else besides Hep C and the Dr. said they ran a Hep C test but not to worry he didn't think I had it. I said me either I just know I am exhausted all the time for some reason. I left and a month later the Health Unit called me and said Oh do you realize you have Hep C?? I asked a few questions they refused to answer but they kept saying I really needed to make a return appt. with a Dr. Scared me to death!! First of all how can a health unit have the right to call and scare someone like that and second how do they have the right to ask yu if you were ever a drug user?? I can see telling a Dr. that but not a public health unit.
Guest guest
Hi , Usually the first indication that something is wrong with the liver is an elevation in liver enzymes which would show in your blood work. This does not necessarily mean a person has hepatitis c, but just means they need to take a further look to see why the enzymes are elevated. There are specific things in blood that would show a person has hepatitis c--they first find out the genotype and also do a viral load test which shows the amount of virus in the body. A liver biopsy is usually done also which would show the degree of liver damage. Usually treatment options are discussed after this. I hope this helps. Sherry [ ] help??? hello everyone, I would like to know how can you tell how active hep-C is in your blood? Guest guest
I believe the dr is required to notify the health dept. They can ask all they want, you don't have to tell them. My dr assured me that he didn't have to and would not report how I got hcv, it actually usually would be unknown, even though many of us have a pretty good idea. I think it unethical that dr did not notify you before the health dept. -dz- --- Jannewilms42@... wrote: > You want to know how I found out?? Guest guest
Hi , I'm sorry you're feeling so bad. I see you've been a member of the group since the beginning of March. Since you don't give any information about how far along into the program you are, it's hard to give you concrete advice on how to help your symptoms. The excess mucous is definitely A die-off symptom. If you delved headlong into the program, eliminating foods too quickly, it's possible you need to back off and add back some of the foods that you've eliminated. If you are taking a lot of coconut oil, it's possible you're taking way too much too fast and need to back off of that somewhat. Again, it's very hard to advise you since we don't have any details about where you are in the program. Since you're experiencing a lot of excess mucous you might want to read this article on Sinus Treatments. Something here might help you feel better: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/sinus4.php Also, read this article about die off symptoms, and you can reassure your husband that what is going on with you is a totally natural part of natural healing: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/heal2.php This article gives you some other ideas on how to treat die-off symptoms: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/help1.php and as always, if you really are concerned and feel you need to see a doctor, please do so. The doctor may indeed prescribe some sort of medicine but that doesn't' mean you have to fill the prescription. I hope that helps, jackie > > Hello, > > I have been sick now for almost 3 weeks!!! > blowing/coughing up mucous/sputum.... body aches, sinus infections. > i swear i've never been so sick for this long in my life!! > could someone PLEASE give me some kind of remedy to get rid of this stuff?? i don't know how much more i can take. my hubby wants to send me to the Dr. to get meds...but it will be antibiotic, which will just make it worse. > IMO, i was healthier before i started this diet. > please help!! > Thanks in advance, > N. >
Guest guest
Hello again, boy, do i feel even worse this morning. I sorta cheated yesterday cause i was so tired of eating only veggies and meat. so, i had some milk, toast, chips and fruit. (i know naughty!!) morning i woke up w/ a fever of 100.8, even more body aches, and coughing up blood. Are these die off symptoms cause i ate a bunch of " bad stuff " --- is that why i got worse??? Needless to say, i really think i'm going to urgent care today. as for where i am on the program, we didn't rush into it, in fact we still don't even have ALL the vitamins recommended. Mostly been taking vit. c, vit. d, coconut oil, and raw garlic, and adding raw onions to the salad. Lots of eggs, and some organic butter as well. we had gotten rid of dairy and breads/sweets, and we were working on getting rid of fruit....but i keep " cheating " about once a week. maybe this is why i've been " sick " for so long? anyway, that's about all about me. As for my breastfeeding baby, i don't know what he's going through body wise, but he's been acting really irritated lately. and a lot of mucus (still--the same amount of time as me) As for my husband, who is doing better on the diet then i am---NOTHING! so not fair... Same for my 8 yr. old--who isn't as strictly on the diet either (i don't want him losing weight--but i've noticed the dark circles under his eyes have gotten better) as for doses: 2 TBS of coconut oil, daily 1 vit d3 1000 iu daily (2 for me) 1 vit c 500 mg daily 1 omega3 fish oil pill 1000mg daily 1.5 clove of raw garlic (1 sm. one for my 8 yr old.) Still haven't incorporated nutritional flakes yet (yuck!) ( i know we're not taking the correct amounts, but i figure something is better then nothing, we're not made of money) That's about it, and hope it gives you the background/info. you need :0) Thanks in advance for all your help. ~ N. > > Hi , > > I'm sorry you're feeling so bad. Are these die off symptoms cause i ate a bunch of " bad stuff " --- is that why i got worse??? +++Hi . If you are coughing up blood go to emergency right away!!! +++Yes you got worse because of eating " bad stuff! " <snip> > as for doses: > 2 TBS of coconut oil, daily > 1 vit d3 1000 iu daily (2 for me) > 1 vit c 500 mg daily > 1 omega3 fish oil pill 1000mg daily > 1.5 clove of raw garlic (1 sm. one for my 8 yr old.) +++It is way too soon to give your 8 year old garlic - you wait until after he/she can take 2 tablespoons of coconut oil without getting severe die-off symptoms. +++I think you are confused about Fish Oil and Vitamin D - you take fish oil for omega 3 plus vitamin A when you get enough sun exposure. Also you need to take more than 1,000 mg daily of omega 3. +++If you don't get enough sun exposure you wouldn't take vitamin D since the sun makes it on your skin, in which case you need to take cod liver oil which contains omega 3, and vitamins A & D - see this article: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/cod2.php > > Still haven't incorporated nutritional flakes yet (yuck!) +++They actually taste kinda nutty, so they aren't unpleasant to take. Guest guest
Hi , Besides what Bee has already written, I had a couple of other observations after reading your post: >Are these die off symptoms cause i ate a bunch of " bad stuff " --- is that why i got worse??? no. What you did by eating so many off plan foods was feed your candida overgrowth. Your symptoms came from that, not die-off. Die-off comes when you are giving your body good healing foods to build up the immune system and reign in the candida overgrowth. They may feel similar, but they are different. > Needless to say, i really think i'm going to urgent care today. > > as for where i am on the program, we didn't rush into it, in fact we still don't even have ALL the vitamins recommended. Mostly been taking vit. c, vit. d, coconut oil, and raw garlic, and adding raw >onions to the salad. Lots of eggs, and some organic butter as well. if you aren't totally on the plan yet it is too early to be taking raw garlic. That is added farther into the program. As well, eggs and onions contain sulfur which is anti-fungal so they will be causing die-off symptoms. Coconut Oil is also a strong anti-fungal so it will cause die-off as well. > > we had gotten rid of dairy and breads/sweets, and we were working on getting rid of fruit....but i keep " cheating " about once a week. maybe this is why i've been " sick " for so long? > it's hard to say if the fruit cheat is your issue. Every person's body responds differently. > > As for my husband, who is doing better on the diet then i >am---NOTHING! so not fair... as I said, every person's body responds differently. Don't compare yourself and your symptoms to those of your husband. Just continue working your way into all phases of the plan. Please let us know what the doctor says. jackie
Guest guest
Our first night was not successful when sleeping, he was awake every 30-45 min and his helmet was either completely over his eyes and almost over his nose or it was sideways. I am guessing he is a wiggle worm when sleeping. There are no red marks on his head from wearing it... It this normal or eventually will it stop moving around? Guest guest
I dont know which band you went with but our son is a DOC band grad.. For the first I would say 4 or 5 days he woke up every 30-45 mins and then we would get him and then he would fall back asleep and we would put him back in his crib and start all over again. His Doc band did come down a little over his eye because of where the holding points where but eventually once there was more for the band to hold to it stopped moving so much. It took us a bit to figure out what to put him in at night with the band too because he got so warm with the band. Once we figured that all out and he got a little more comfortable with the band the sleeping went back to normal. My husband and I both said that its got to be weird with that on their heads, its like sleeping with a motorcycle helmet on your head. It will get better, once they get comfortable with it...Good Luck!! > > Our first night was not successful when sleeping, he was awake every 30-45 min and his helmet was either completely over his eyes and almost over his nose or it was sideways. Guest guest
My Hanger band was way too big too and they added a pad in the back. it really isn't suppose to hang over the eyes. Once the extra pad was in place it never did that again. I get this feeling Hanger makes 'em big to be grown into. :/ Considering I didn't have time for growing into it it didn't make me happy but things are ok now. From: "jamiewells2110@..." <jamiewells2110@...>To: Plagiocephaly Sent: Thu, January 6, 2011 5:17:07 AMSubject: Re: Help??? I know a DOC Band is not supposed to be over the eyes or to the side. Ours would slightly settle over his eyebrow and the tech would adjust it until it stopped doing that. Toward the end of the week between visits, it would settle again a little over the eye but it was still pretty snug. Guest guest
You said she had lots of pain yesterday, was that stomach pain or joint pain? The Naproxin could have taken care of the inflamation and pain for a while and now that it is out of her system could come back. Also, any illness could cause a flare. Talk to her and find out where her pain is and document it. If one ankle or knee hurts, compair it to the other one. Look to see if you notice any swelling in her joints. As you are in the process of possibly getting a diagnosis be sure to document everything. When the pain is there, how often it is there. If you notice swelling or rash or anything out of the ordinary. Also be sure to document that she had the tummy flu and that her pain came before the flu. How long did it all last? I don't know how old your daughter is, but if she is old enough to communicate the where and when of her pain, ask her. Sometimes my daughter did not necessarily have pain but certain joints felt odd or different then the other ones. The one thing you need to do is document, document. If you see painful, swollen, or red joints try to take a picture. Inevitibly by the time you see the doctor again it will not look the same. Veri & Jaye 17 poly help??? Guest guest
To answer your ?'s. My 6y year old has never had any noticeable swelling or any redness. Just a very bad right leg for 3 years. Lots of crying abou it. Saw a Rheumy two months ago for the first time. She said she could tell that lef felt different and was longer in length. Xrays were normal. She told us to try naproxen once a day until we saw her again in 3 months. My daughter has digestive problems already... has a gtube for supplemental feeding as she cant tolerate fructose or sucrose. The naproxen was really starting to increase her digestive issues.. reflux. She was on it for 5 wks and she never complained once of her leg. It was amazing. We have now been off the naproxen for 8 dyas. She first started complaining about it on Saturday. Then all night Sat. night. THen Sunday AM she had the tummy flu that my son and husband just got over. Her leg was terribly hurting during her tummy flu. We started back on the naproxen last night and no pain today. > > > You said she had lots of pain yesterday, was that stomach pain or joint pain? Guest guest
The naproxin can certainly cause the gi issues to get worse. Call the rheumy and let them know. do not wait for three months on this med if you are seeing problems. You can add prevacid, or something to help with that but let your rheumy know you need something. The rheumy may be willing to change the nsaid but one nsaid that causes problems with gi will very likely give the same prob with the next nsaid. So let us know.
