Guest guest
Matt - that's an excellent idea - especially for those of us who have a skin graft....very important not to strain. For anyone with upcoming surgery, best to be prepared. Guest guest
Thank matt and Connie, I did take a senekot last night and things are fianially slowely moving along. I'm still dealing with a lot of pain, not sure why but I still find it difficult to to more than 3-4 hours without a painkiller. When the pain comes its like sharp knife like stabs way inside the ear, and than there is a different kind of pain on the outside of my head highter up from the incision where it feels to sore to touch. I keep hoping everyday I wake up the pain will ease but so far its been the same and I'm already days post - op. I'm a little concerned the pain will stay for when my little boy comes home in a few days. I'm not meaning to conplain, I'm just wondering if anyone elsr had this prolonged of pains after their surgery. Thanks everyone, :)Joanne > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > > > > Well it has been 5 days since I had my operation and I am > > > still > > > > > feeling > > > > > > > quite drowsy and dizzy. Guest guest
Have you discussed the pain with your doctor. I had minor stabbing pains for a little while, but they were tolerable without medication. This surgery can vary so much that there could be a reason why it's taking you longer to deal with the pain. Rather than worry and wonder, talk to the doc. It could be that your situation will naturally have a little more pain than what others have experienced. Guest guest
Thanks Matt, I'll give my Dr a call tomorrow, their office is closed today, hopefully he can let me know if this is normal.Take care, Joanne > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > > > > > > Well it has been 5 days since I had my operation and I > > am > > > > > still > > > > > > > feeling > > > > > > > > > quite drowsy and dizzy. Guest guest
Hi Joanne, I am about a month post op and had the same thing you are experiencing with pain. The nurse told me the same thing also about the pain meds, that I shouldn't need it after 2 days. Well, days 3, 4 & 5 were the worst, I couldn't even open my mouth without feeling sharp pain in my ear. I called my dr's office on day 5, which was a Friday so I got nervous no one would be available on the weekend, told the nurse that I was in a lot of pain still and they prescribed viodin which for whatever reason worked better than the percocet for me. The nurse told me if I wanted to come in earlier than my 2 week post op appt I could, but by day 7, that Monday, I was much better and stopped taking the medicine. When I saw my surgeon a week later, he said he didn't know what had caused me so much pain either, he suggested a few possibilites that I can't even remember now. I was worried something was infected but he said everything was healing fine, so I guess everyone's recovery & pain is so different. I am glad to know that i was not the only one but not glad you are in pain! It really stinks so I hope you are feeling lots better by now!! Good luck... --- joannelpo121 <jtpeterson@...> wrote: > Thanks Matt, I'll give my Dr a call tomorrow, their > office is closed > today, hopefully he can let me know if this is > normal.Take care, > Joanne > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > > > > > > > Well it has been 5 days since I > had my operation > and I > > > am > > > > > > still > > > > > > > > feeling > > > > > > > > > > quite drowsy and dizzy. Guest guest
Hi Joanne, How are you feeling now? It is day 8 for me and I am feeling a little brighter. Just still very sleepy, I am guessing it's just how my body reacts to surgery Hope you are doing better, .
Guest guest
Hi , Its day 6 and I'm still dealing with quite a bit of pain. I've cut my pain med's to about 3/day but its been fairly painful doing that. I was glad to hear s's post that she too experienced this but that it subsided in a week, I'm so hoping that happens for me. I too am pretty weak in the knee's. I get a bit of a energy surge when the pain subsides but then I end up flat on the couch for a few hours afterward. I'm sure this is just part of the healing process. The ichiness is still driving me crazy numerous times day...do you get this too inside your ear? Well, I am going to call my surgeon tommorow just to let them know about the pain and see what they say about it. Hope everyone is doing well tonight, talk to you tommorrow, Joanne > > Hi Joanne, > How are you feeling now? > It is day 8 for me and I am feeling a little brighter. Guest guest
Thanks Niki, it does help knowing someone has gone through what I'm experiencing. I'll keep you posted. BTW, what proceedure did they do with you? Maybe there was something similar that we can link to what we are/have experienced? Thanks Niki, :)Joanne > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > > > > > > > > Well it has been 5 days since I > > had my operation > > and I > > > > am > > > > > > > still > > > > > > > > > feeling > > > > > > > > > > > quite drowsy and dizzy. Guest guest
Hi, I know what you mean about the energy levels, I do a little bit then I get dizzy and tired and retreat again! It's frustrating but I see that things will be good soon. I know exactly what you mean about the itching. I want to shove something in there and scratch it! It is really annoying! Take care and hope you feel better soon, . joannelpo121 wrote: > > Hi , Its day 6 and I'm still dealing with quite a bit of pain. > I've cut my pain med's to about 3/day but its been fairly painful > doing that. Guest guest
Joanne, Like you i had a good bit of pain after my surgery for the first week plus when I had a Canal wall down done about a year ago. For me it wasnt bad for the first two days then it came on like a jackhammer. I dont do well with narcotic pain killers(they make me vomit badly) so they were out of the question. I went with good old Tylenol and it was just enough to take the edge off, i deal with pain well generally so i didnt let it get to me. I think the packing in my outer canal was causing a good bit of my pain. It was packed in there pretty tight and was hard as a rock from dried up blood. Once they removed it I felt much better. I was still a little sore but not in real pain. Ill never forget the Intern telling me how much I was going to hate her when she removed the packing. She whiped it out of there and it hurt coming out but after a few minutes it felt much better. I had the itchiness thing too as it healed, and for quite a long time. Honestly i think that bothered me a lot more then the pain did. Hang in there it will get better. Re: Day 5 Hi , Its day 6 and I'm still dealing with quite a bit of pain. Guest guest
Thanks , Hopefully maybe my pain is related to the packing, I get it removed on the 22. Mine is packed really hard too and there has been no bleeding outside of the packing, its just very discolored with dried blood. Sometimes I feel " dripping " down inside of my ear and than the iching starts, I wonder if its bleeding but dosnt get past the packing barrier. over all, I do feel a bit better everyday, t would just be great when the stabbing pains and ichiness goes away. Hope your doing well . Thanks for the feedback, Joanne > > > > Hi Joanne, > > How are you feeling now? > > It is day 8 for me and I am feeling a little brighter. Guest guest
We are on day 5 with my 7 month old son, seems to being doing well. Some days he is a little clingy but overall I would say this has been easier than what I thought. Tonight will be his 1st time sleeping in it, because we had it decorated and did not want to confuse him by sleeping in it 1 night and then not the next night. I will post pictures of his new addition day 5 7 month son
