Guest guest
Hi, I'm posting an update, since when I was searching in the archives I wanted to know what people decided. I won't detail everything, but after repositioning for another month didn't work for us, I eventually got a prescription from our pediatrician (although he still doesn't think it's necessary), and insurance pre-approved it as medically necessary. So we got the DOC-band last week! Oh, and I never answered , but wanted to let you know that yes, we have been doing stretches daily since about 1 month old, and now do strengthening exercises too. So far all is going well, except that I painted it dark blue (Go Bears!) and the next time I cleaned it, some paint on the edges got " melted " and smeared into the foam. I've tried scrubbing (very, very carefully this time) with the rubbing alcohol to remove the stains, but it didn't all come off. It's not a lot, but I'm a little nervous about what they'll say when we go in for his adjustment... and also a little annoyed because I taped and was so careful and clean when I painted, and then it got messed up later. So overall: Woo-Hoo we are underway in treatment. Although if anyone has suggestions for getting the paint off without ruining the rest of the paint job, let me know. -Jen
Guest guest
Thanks for the update. Sorry to hear about the paint. I had some smudges that I couldn't get out as well. I'd love to hear if anyone has a good tip. > > > Hi, > I'm posting an update, since when I was searching in the archives I wanted to know what people decided. > > I won't detail everything, but after repositioning for another month didn't work for us, I eventually got a prescription from our pediatrician (although he still doesn't think it's necessary), and insurance pre-approved it as medically necessary. Guest guest
Hi Jen, I'm glad you're getting started. I don't have any advice about the paint. Our starband had a pattern, and I just used a few stickers sometimes. I think the biggest concern would be that the paint getting on the foam would irritate his head, so if that isn't happening you should be fine. I hope you'll see some nice progress. -christine sydney, 4.5 yrs, starband grad > > > Hi, > I'm posting an update, since when I was searching in the archives I wanted to know what people decided. > > I won't detail everything, but after repositioning for another month didn't work for us, I eventually got a prescription from our pediatrician (although he still doesn't think it's necessary), and insurance pre-approved it as medically necessary.
