Guest guest
I only have time right now to read my email once a week let alone answer it! Toe walking. My son also has tight heel cords but his ankles also collapse so our Pt reccommended DAFOS. They are molded to his feet and are made especially to prevent toe walking. You need a script from an orthopedic surgeon. Dyslexia- we tried Hooked on Phonics and my children liked it. However, If he already knows his sounds and you are sure of it I woudln't spend all that money on Hooked on Phonics. Instead, this is how they put to gether the sounds. They start with say " at " they practice that and than put it with b to make bat, then c to make cat. etc. Then they move to " an " and do it again. Basically just make up a bunch of rhyming families and teach the root and change the beginning sound. I had two sons that were kinetic learners. So taking their fingers and dragging it across the word helped. I also had them shape the words and letters using playdoh while saying the sound. Just having something in their hand like a rubberband to twittle with helped also. If I want them to memorize something than it works best if their finger is dragged along the line they are memorizing. We didn't point at each letter but made the finger flow across the line. My boys are now excellent readers and they do not use their fingers anymore. __________________________________________________
